My interpretation has always been that it is about the pain of loving someone that doesnt return your love.

After searching for the exact lyrics (It's a bit mumbly at points) i must say im not too happy with them, as they appear on "letssingit" et al.

The part in the middle where he supposedly says "love isn't waiting for me" sounds to me more like "love isnt the answer to everything"

Before that where the girl is supposedly singing "what if it just would" to me sounds like "what if our eyes were one"

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this because I'm not entirely sure whoever put them on all the lyrics sites were entirely correct.

'tis a beautiful song though.

No.

i think the main part shows a certain helplessness of s.o. who seeks love but is also afraid of it. maybe he has been disappointed and hopes to have found real love in the girl he thinks about now:what If It all were to change love? I thought It would.

difficult:)great song i think

ri, there aren't any typical chemical brothers songs... they've changed so often and the only typical feature on their music is, that it is excellent, every single piece in it's own way...

But I think that in many songs of them there is something that would make you think 'oh this might be from the chemical brothers' (i don't know how to describe it); and these two songs belong to those who do not have those features.. oh it is difficult to talk about music like that.

Okay. You are right. I thought about it. I am writing bullshit, I admit it. [And even not in Jeanie's thread then :'( !] There is a great variety in their songs there really is. that's what makes them out doesn't it

i should sleep more before posting such wise things

Like Golden Eyes said there aren't "typical" Chems songs per se - I feel their style keeps evolving from one record to the next. However I think you brought up an interesting point. I believe the Chems style is ever-evolving yet at the same time consistant and in line with their previous work. When I hear them I believe they do have signature sounds, signature formulas, that certain style... no proper way of describing it other than I feel it's sort of like their fingerprints are all over the tracks - that's what makes the Chems identifiable from track to track/record to record. That's why and how you know it's the Chems... even my little son was able to identify the Chems when I first played Push The Button (well, maybe a little brainwashing had something to do with it but that's beside the point. hehe! ;) ) Anyway, it's an amazing consistancy they've managed to pull off well. That's why I feel so strongly about being able to identify one Chems record with the next - hearing elements found in one song that are carried through to another song on another record. I know it's hard to put into words but I know exactly what you meant in the post I quoted - so no I don't think you're writing bullshit (and don't worry, nobody's gonna kick you out of the forum, don't be silly!)

Thank you.. I think you succeeded very well in putting it into words!! Thats's what I thought as well. On the other hand even my music teacher from school did not identify them when listening to "Push the Button" for the first time so this shows their songs are very individual and various. But I can exactly feel like your son, too.. It's difficult

one of the elements best to find out it's the brothers is that little birdie sound they've used in so many of their songs, hidden somewhere...

i remember me, being 13 and just having discovered there music. i had BRB and there was that new single, but i did not know the name. i went to my record store and asked for it. and they said there were some (all the old singles as well). as i only had little money i wanted to have the new one. while i was deciding i heard some song on MTV, which was on on one of the tellys in that store. i thought, "wow, that's... somehow... weird. that could be them". i saw that video then, with the girl doing that gymnastic dance or whatever it is... you know what comes next.

for sure it was the brothers. elektrobank. excellent one. how did i know it was them? until that moment i only knew BRB, morning lemon, prescription beats. it was just... there.

sometimes u need to listen many times and very carefully to find out it's the brothers. that's it with shake break bounce on PTB. wouldn't be to easy to find out if i wouldn't know it was them. somehow i'd better know with HTL

have a good nite :D
love is all.
