I disagree, I think Royksopp are cool. They're not as good as the chems or daft punk live but their album (Melody AM) is really good. 8)

Its taking the piss, I mean Kylie isn't even a dance act, she just makes cheesy electro-pop. MTV is getting worse--I saw MTV dance playing Pink the other day...

Newsflash. Eh hem. Coming from someone who was there when MTV first went on the air.

MTV hasn't been very watchable since The Real World first aired it's ugly head and spawned a whole new generation of what is considered "music television."

As far as I'm concerned, the golden years of MTV were in the 80's, when they actually played music videos. It's a shame. There's so many great videos of all genres that should be seen, and they aren't because there's too much other crap that's barely music related being shown on MTV instead. The last good thing MTV had going for it was AMP but they aired it at ludicrous hours, like 3am on a Monday morning. Not exactly accomodating to people who are in school or who have 9-5's.

MTV2 would be great, or at least a viable alterantive, if it were as readily available as it's mother station.

but u have to agree that anything is better than kylie - this mtv is becoming really pop-crapped channel, too many awards are going to this pop mainstream, dont u think so?

I can think of a million other things that are worse than Kylie. I'm no huge fan of Kylie but at least she can fricken sing. She has a lovely voice, if you've ever listened to her work with Nick Cave you wouldn't believe it's the same woman that sings the poppy top40 songs she's known for. The thing is, there's a market for music like the kind Kylie Minogue puts out. It's trendy to like that kind of music, and there's a market for top40 dancefloor filler. MTV will hope on the bandwagon of what's trendy and hip until something else comes along.

As for music awards going to those who we think are less deserving... yes, I agree but that's just the way things are. It makes you wonder if it's all "fixed" but then again we're talking MTV here, not the Grammy Awards (although the Grammy's are privy to politics and bad decisions, it's still the biggie and most respected music awards ceremony to date) MTV, well, MTV is like the spoiled little stepchild of the Grammy awards in terms of music awards ceremonies. There's a market for it, and that market is fed and feeds the masses of trendies that keep MTV afloat. Once in a while a good artist and their video is recognized, and the MTV awards themselves have always been very entertaining - but as it doesn't scratch too far beneath that surface to warrant any loss of sleep on my part.

Jeez I wish there was an edit button. I would have used it so what I wrote would've made more sense. ... don't mind me and my insane babble. ;)
