Bosco, I freakin luv ya dude.
What you said about the Chems' staying power and talent resonates with me totally.
It kinda scares me to think I've been listening to and loving the Chems for over 10 years now. I feel so old, haha. I can't imagine how trippy it must be for the loyal followers who've been along for the ride since the beginning of their career. I guess I can sort of relate since another band I dig, I've been following them since 1984... And then I think how awesome it would be to be a brand new fan just getting into the Chems right now with all these 'new' music to explore. But anyway there are some albums I like more than others, some songs I like more than others and all of that. What's great though despite differing opinions on what song/album is better, I find that my digging their music has been a consistent thing - something I can enjoy on a regular basis and get all excited about - over the years. I find it a little weird because I don't have that with other bands, including that one I've been following since 1984.
I can't wait for the new music, whenever it may come.

Whirly, check this interview with Erol Alkan. He specifically talks about the Chems and why they are so resiliant.
"The reason Chemical Brothers (and Daft Punk) have had the success they've had is through their subtlety, their detail – it's not mindless. Not to dismiss the current scene, but there is stuff that has got a bit too hard and a bit too mindless – if we're not careful we're only a few steps from Hard House or stuff like that. Let’s bring some funk back, let's not just bang our heads on walls!"

I've been listening to the Chems and Prodigy a bunch lately. After listening to all the (Chems') albums again, I haven't discovered to many new things. DYOH, Surrender, WATN are still all my faves. I like the first half of PTB, but 'Left-Right' up to 'Surface to Air' have just become mostly "skip" tracks now :S EPD is still great as ever.
If I were to name one track that I appreciate much more now, it would be 'Got Glint?'--I'm can't believe I used to dislike this track. I guess HBHG overshadowed it and I was impatient, lol :D

Hadn't really been listening to the Chems (other than Brothers Gonna Work it Out) for quite some time now. But since I heard about the Fabric date yesterday I've been putting the CDs back in the player and it's been really nice hearing them with fresh ears again.

The gotglint site was a good one. I second the nomination to put it back up ;)
The person who ran the Planet Dust site's name was David. He was from Ireland if memory serves correctly. He used to be on the Chemical Brother's mailing list and that's where he got some of the material re: fan experiences. He and I exchanged communications (I submitted a couple of reviews) but it's been years and years. Back in Planet Dust's heyday Tom found out about the site and wrote to him a couple of times as well (these were in the news section and started out as "Tom Rowlands tells Planet Dust...") It would be cool if that site could be resurrected as well but maintaining a site like that is a lot of upkeep and requires a lot of time in front of a computer... it had a good run, though. I enjoyed it.

He's even asking anybody to volunteer time to the site! So if your a web-savy type person and want to get involved, Go for it! I personally think the website is great and shouldn't be changed at all. All it needs is updated content.

I've been meaning to revisit all my Chems stuff for a few weeks now but last week I went to see Royksopp at Leeds Uni who were fantastic and it prompted me to go through all their stuff!
I'm itching to listen to Surrender at the mo so it'll definitely happen lol.
No Need fucking rocks, I like it better than most tracks on WATN.

^agreed
I've sat here for 10 minutes trying to think of a way to expound on that. But no, those three words are perfect.
So
Damn
Good

I remember getting excited when I heard the intro to the second track from WATN and hearing the TSU sample and then I remembered telling myself 'Is this a continuation of the Surrender album?', then those little computer bleeps and buzzes come up as the music gradually fades in! And when that beat drops, it's as if i'm strapped to a missile and flying over skies and cities.

Silver Drizzle has been getting much needed spins around these parts lately. I had never sat and listened to it properly to fully appreciated it until now. So subtle yet so epic. Perfect track for the summer festival shenanigans which kick off this weekend at Foreshore with Deadmau5!!!
