[/quote]Don't you think smoking is a dirty, filthy habit? I can smell you dirty breath from here, the keys from which you typed coated with the yellow scum that comes from that cancer stick you place in your mouth daily.

I couldn't agree more it is a dirty habit, however i do feel sorry for those who started due to peer pressure and now are having trouble giving up. Good luck and fair play to those who are trying to quit remember 'don't give up giving up'.

I can appreciate its a difficult habit to stop and hope those that are trying to stop ate successfull at it.

You obviously have no idea who I am, so I'm going to be really, really nice and not get into a FLAEM WAR with you.

But I am 31, and no, I'm not particularly afraid of cancer, etc... By the time I have to worry about such things I'll either buy a pair of vat grown lungs or the cybernetic equivalent. I'm counting on science keeping ahead of whatever abuse I can give myself.

Besides, everyone has to die of something, don't they? Apologies to Dennis Leary, but they say smoking takes 10 years off your life, right? Who cares? It's the worst 10 years, the ones at the end, the crapping your pants in some filthy nursing home where your ungrateful children stuck you. Frankly, I don't care to live when I'm too old to get it up without the help of viagra.

Who cares who you are, its whirly that has the respect of people on here.

Hopefully in the fututre there will be some good medical solutions avaible to those who have fucked up there lungs but do you really think we should rely on this? Why should the NHS have to waste there money on those who dnt really give a fuck when theres people who have looked after themselves that want to live?

Maybe it does cut of the worse 10years of your life but then again maybe it makes it alot worse.

Sorry to come across as a cunt Mr Whirly but i didnt really dig your point of view.

I think this thread i wish i hadnt of started could go on forever!

Hold on Acidchildren, was your comment the one in the quotes? If so mate, seems a bit harsh. Posting on this forum has got f*** all to do with respect, it's about opinions. No one person's opinion has any more weight than anyone else's. Also, he's from America, so the NHS won't pay a penny for his healthcare.

Obviously this topic has touched a nerve with you, just don't forget that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and every person's opinion is as valid as the next.

We're enjoying it while it lasts. We keep saying we're gonna quit after we get back from London. We'll see. One more try...

I'm sure that'll last til we see the Chemicals next. I blame them for the last time I fell off the wagon! Damn you Tom & Ed!!! ;)

I didn't mean 'who I am' in the sense that I'm married to whirlygirl. What I meant was that he shouldn't talk shit to people he doesn't know. I wasn't disrespectful to him, or you, I merely stated my opinion. I've been reading this site for ages, I'm not some n00b talking ouit his ass.

Well, I'm Irish and as you probably know we had a smoking ban implemented last year which forbids smoking in any bar, restaurant, place of work and the like and there has been a mixed reaction to it. Some people say it's a good thing because as most people in here have said, you don't come home smelling like an ashtray after a night out. Other people have noted though that with the smell of smoke gone, the crappy dingy smell of pubs has taken over and is worse still.

Personally I'm for the smoking ban. 30% per cent of Irish people smoke which leaves a whopping majority who don't, and with the recent studies on passive smoke showing conclusive links between consumption of second hand smoke and an increase in the likelihood of contracting emphysema (not sure about the spelling) and lung cancer, it's completely unfair to expect other people to tolerate your bad habits. I mean for Christ's sake, why would you smoke? It's dirty, fucking anti social, gets more expensive every year as the Irish gov increases tax levies with each successive budget and is obscenely bad for your health.

People who say that it adds to the character of a place are sorely lacking in foresight... they're stating this before the chemotherapy.
