I have to say that I really like Shake Brake Bounce. I have put it on repeat a couple of times since I read your Thread, and yes I agree it's a bit unlike them, but still very good.
Anyway I really love the whole album and can't fault any of the tracks.
BTW, I have had the album on repeat almost constantly since I got it, and I have listened to very little else.

What a great track ? you can't beat the simplicity and complexity of this track at all.

guitar riff is great. least favourite track is probably surface to air at the moment, doesnt feel complete without the hoops acapella :(

The guitar riff is surprinsing and doesn't sound very chemical, but that's a good thing. I wonder whether it is a sample or a bit played by Tom. It's always interestign knowing that most of the guitars ontheir tunes are palyed by Tom...
They say the Parker MIDI fly (MIDI guitar, used to control synths) really changed their way of writing since Come With Us and when you listen to PTB, there are little bits of guitar or guitar-controlled synths scattered here and there... (surface to air is a good example. Or Star Guitar. it is funny because guitar chords are quite noticeable as they have six notes and a structure which is not what you would play on a keyboard, but yet it is a guitar chord with a synth sound...)
I wonder if Tom played the guitar at the end of Close your eyes as well. Somehow I do not imagine Tom as a guitar player...

One thing one the sleeve notes it doesn't mention as to who plays what. From what i can remember DYOH has some sleeve notes as to who played what. maybe not in detail but for example - Lost in the k-hole -"Amusing acid bass played by Seggs" , dig your owh hole " Fizz funkin' wah bass played by Ali friend".

I've always wondered about the live bass players. I mean we hear a lot about guest vocalists, but those bass player are just as talentend int hteir field. Hoxwever, I'm quite surprises that Tom, being a former bass player, didn't play these parts himself, they are fairly easy.
Are you sure no one is credited for the Guitar in CYE (i'm to lazy to unpack the vinyl I got)? if no one is, it must be Tom, then.

Actually on the contrary Shake Break Bounce is so very chemical and my fav. track on the album. I love all the experimentation going on in the track. Its chemical in a way that i reminds me of morning lemon, instead of fuckin around with the beats they fucked with effects and use of synthesizers like no other.

you should listen giant. pure quality 8)

One track I didn't like in the beginning was Left Right, only because I normally can't stand hip hop unless the lyrics are meaningful. I love the backing track, and I know the lyrics mean well, but it just sounds like Eminem or something. I can't help but cringe when I hear "bush and sadam" and similar phrases. It's like it's way too obvious, which I spose is the point (to be more in your face), but I much prefer lyrics like Galvanize where you're not quite sure what he's on about until you really think about it.

Shake Break Bounce is a very bad Timbaland imitation and it must be the worst track the Chems have ever written.
I kinda agree, its not there best ever work compared to the like of HBHG and BRBs. I do like it however when its as if there playing on the turntable.

I suppose its like any other chems album tho .you go through phases of prefering one track to another....One album to another....... at the end of the day its all good
I always find thats what i like most about the chems is their unpredictability.you never know what you are gonna hear when a new album comes out... each track is unique in its own way sometimes you start hating a tune and suddenly without you noticing its your fave track on the album..... (i have to be honest and say i didn't like galvanise when i first heard it) but i think it is amazing now....
my faves at the moment are believe and marvo ging.... (ging is one of those tunes that could make me smile when its raining outside) reminds me of warm summer days.....
