I just read the local newspaper here, that Depeche Mode probably isn't coming to the Pinkpop festival. Because Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode needs to fully recover from his recent illness to ensure that the tour can resume shortly. It isn't confirmed yet, but there should be an update about it today if the concert will continue or not.

And the newspaper said that the chemical brothers would replace them!? Is this possible? I mean I heard alot of people here talking about that the chemical brothers are coming as an replacement. What are the chances? I suppose when they are coming it will be a dj set. I'm a little shocked now because i'm going to the festival, so I just was wondering if it was true. Ed? Tom?

Would be really cool if they would come again to the pinkpop festival. So my parents can listen to them too because the festival is pretty close to my town =D

Anyway I really hope that Dave will recover soon would have loved to see Depeche Mode live =(

That would be really awesome! Either way, I'm jealous that you're going to a festival. :)

Also--I really like the picture in your sig block. It rocks.

Just read that Dave Gahan's illness was a malignant cancerous tumour that has been removed. Serious stuff. Get well soon and all that.

Imagine a Chemical/Gahan collaboration. Moody vocals on a dark, downtempo track. Aw yeah...

Don't believe Jeanie, she can't be trusted, she's working for the Japanese government and will do whatever it takes to guide you down the wrong path.

:'( I need to stop watching 24 :'(

Hmm I wonder who is going to replace Depeche Mode.. I hope 40 years of Pinkpop doesn't turn into a sunday without a closing act!..

Anyway there is still alot of great artists on the line-up, Franz Ferdinand is awesome, would love to see Bruce Springsteen, Dr. Lektroluv, Pendulum, Placebo, Snow Patrol and the famous dutch band Rowwen Heze =D

Ah there are still plenty of festivals which i'm going to so everything isn't ruined haha

I think I get it lol...

I saw Pendulum live in December, they were pretty good apart from one of them (Gareth McGrillen?) bigging up the crowd after every track (let me hear you scream...come on you can do better than that etc etc). Apparently this is normal with drum & bass acts but I still hated it. The quiet fella doing the vocals (Rob Swires?) was the talented one!

Bah--when the guy/girl on stage is trying to get the crowd into a frenzy and it ends up being a miss, it's a -HUGE- miss. I've had that happen before at a number of shows, sometimes where I'm absolutely dismayed at the crowd, but sometimes the other way around where I'm in disbelief at how bad the act is.

Weird.

Well I wouldn't say it was a bad crowd, I just felt like saying to the fella "Shut up and play the music!" Crowds can be great without all that (like at the Sigur Rós gig I was at in Blackpool in December for example) but then can be shit as well, like when a number of people are stood round with pints in their hand talking to their mates (the less said the better really). I suppose it can be a necessary evil sometimes...

Man this edition of Pinkpop was one of the best ones!

Mister Springsteen did it.. what a guy! So much enthusiasm, he was really in a good mood. He did his whole concert non-stop 3 hours. It was one of the best concerts I have seen in my life, and i'm proud that I was there :)
