Yeah I'm not sure I like the vibe of this remix - its kind of lowering the tone of the song if that makes sense. I don't think its that bad but would be nice to hear someone really come up with something to do justice to the song. It pisses me off a little that tracks keep being given to little-known artists (I'd never heard of Herve or Oliver Huntemann before they remixed the Chems, but maybe that's more of a reflection on me haha)then they go and do very average remixes of the tracks. But on the other hand I suppose a more well-known artist remixing a track is no guarantee that it'll be any good!! Just some thoughts.

Yeah, I'd be a little upset too Slipvin. But that's not something the band decide, it has to do with chart eligibility. The link below has somewhat old info, but it'll give you an idea of why this is:

What is it about?
The official UK charts are compiled and overseen by "The Official UK Charts Company" (OCC) - a joint venture between the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) and BARD (British Association of Record Dealers). It was established by the music industry to regulate and control the Chart compilation process and to ensure that the Charts represent an accurate assessment of popularity...

What are the rules for singles?
Besides other things like packaging and minimum dealer price, the rules sets a limit of how long a single has to be in maximum to be considered for the single charts.
This means:
2004 -
Two new formats have been introduced:
The two-track CD single:
Two audio tracks only
No more than 10 minutes in total
Standardised singles jewel case packaging, no free gifts or extras, lower minimum dealer price
The "Maxi" CD/DVD:
Current maximum of three tracks will in addition be able to feature remixes of those tracks so long as they remain within the currently-acknowledged time limit of 20 minutes
Singles which solely feature a lead track plus multiple remixes of the same track will be able to run for up to 40 minutes
The current limit of one video will increase to two
Singles will, for the first time, be able to feature weblinks with an extension of the rule which currently allows them on albums
Labels wishing to release a single that complies with the new rules should be aware that sales of a maximum of one 2 Track CD, one "Maxi" CD and one "Maxi" DVD may be combined per release for Chart purposes.
OCC will be issuing a new set of Chart Rules shortly. These will run in parallel with the existing Chart Rules (effective 08.05.02) until December 29 2003 at which point the existing Chart Rules will cease to apply.
This means that until December 29 2003, labels can elect singles releases to comply with either the existing Chart Rules (effective 08.05.02) or the new document (effective 20.10.03), but not a combination of both. Singles released from December 29 2003 must comply with the new rules.

It's such a drag - record shops are going the way of the dinosaur here in California too. Maybe not so much in the big urban centers but out here in suburbia, there's not a whole lot to choose from now that so many shops (even if they were big corporate chains) have closed. There are some stores but they're few and far between and there's just not a lot of selection. The big music retailers now are Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart and the like. I'd rather buy from an actual record store just because I like the whole process - and buying stuff off the internet is a last resort for me although I did like coming home and having my Japanese copy of We Are The Night waiting on my doorstep. :D
When I do get a chance to do some record shopping which isn't all that often, I usually do so in Los Angeles. Thank god for Amoeba Records!

I think most of you got this in your e-mail box:
The single will be available on:
CD
1. Salmon Dance - radio edit
2. Electronic Battle Weapon 8
7"
A. Salmon Dance - album version
B. Snooprah
12"
A1. Salmon Dance - album version
A2. Electronic Battle Weapon 8
B1. Salmon Dance- Crookers mix
B2. Salmon Dance - Herve mix
plus digital download
this is a very strange release with EBW 8 on it in stead of EBW 9.
Sidek, Prochem where did you get the info of Clip Kiss being on the 12"? That would be really weird!
No Seal which sucks, another b-side with Snooprah which is good.
Is there anything known about the US release? I think I'll wait for that one. DIA US was far superior over the UK and Europe edition.

I hope the WATN era singles do not go the path of the PTB singles, which IMO were executed poorly for numerous reasons.
1. There were a buch of Pt.1 and Pt. 2's to the singles that each had a b-side.
2. Believe was UK only... 'nuff said for anyone not there
3. etc.
So, I guess we yanks could get screwed with the Salmon dance if they go the way of PTB pattern of releases :? I really want to hear Snooprah though.
