Im not going to type too much and want to make this short and sweet.
I attended the shows in Dublin and London last week....
DUBLIN: Crap venue with crap sound, overcrowded (no room to get my groove on), full of absolute rude people and scum, quite physically rough.
LONDON: Lovely venue(inside), great sound, ace people(nice grrls too), packed (but loadsa space to get my dance on), great tunes afterwards.
I'm from Dublin and its my city make no mistake, but on my visits to the UK for shows etc if find myself wanting to stay!
I could type a biblical epic on this shit but I wont...just wondered if anyone else has any thought.....

Well if you won't write a biblical epic, I will! ;)
Last time I was in Dublin was in 1991, I went with a friend. At that time the economy there was really, really bad and I remember unemployment and stuff being in the news a lot, and a lot of boarded up shops. But it was still a great city, I think. Maybe it's because I was a tourist only there for a short trip, plus my friend and I always wanted to go to Ireland - it was a good opportunity to travel at a very exciting time in my young wide-eyed life! I found the people there wonderful, very friendly, very helpful and very curious as to why 2 young American girls would even want to come to Dublin when the weather was so bad! (and the men were so handsome, and those gorgeous accents... sigh) ;)
Since 1991 (I lived in Cambridge for 3 and a half months that year) I've been to London a few times. I fuckin love London, that pretty much goes without saying. Always something to do, always something to see that I haven't seen before, and I have the most fantastic memories of that city. London has always been and always will be, a special place that's close to my heart. I haven't really travelled a lot around the world... I would love to do that some day, but so far London is one of those places where I feel more at home there than anywhere else I've ever been. It's a colorful city with so much fascinating history, so much culture, and so much life above and underground. I like the city life, but I also like the proximity that London has to the countryside. Every time I visit and the trip is drawing to a close, I find it very hard to get on the airplane to come back to California. I still see that city through pretty much the same rose colored glasses I had on when I was 19... I would love to live there one day, should that opportunity ever arise. I would jump on that chance if it were given to me. But I also want to be realistic - main concern being that London is bloody expensive!

X-D You have to understand, that my ears are very acclimated to the flatness of speech that is Californian linguisitcs. The Irish accent in comparison... there is no comparison. It's hard to explain how cool a "foreign" accent sounds to a simple minded Californian. ;)

its not really that fair to compare london and dublin. London has a rich musical history, while dublin's is pretty limited. theres no foundation upon which to build a proper musical scene (good clubs, good concert venues) over the past few years with the supposed economic boom dublin has started to develop musically with a lot of good irish musicans and djs moving and playing there, but its still just growing up. while london is a musical world capital. STOP PICKING ON US! :(
