I don't usually make topics about artists, but Reso is a fairly new "underground" producer who I've been greatly enjoying lately.

Here is one song - It makes me think of Burial or Flying Lotus teaming up with SMD.

And here is a "VIP" mix of one of his older tracks:

As you can tell, he is a quite diverse producer.
What do you guys think?

P.S. don't be put off by the "dubsilo." He isn't just a simple "wobble-bass over 4x4 beats producer."

Yikes. I've heard better music on newgrounds.

Like most dubstep songs, it does have a few redeeming qualities. Qualities which immediately die once the beat comes in. Sorry, I just can't like it.

I like it! I know dubstep is a big no no here but when I went to my frist Chemical Brothers concert in Oakland they had Freq Nasty as the opening show and I quite liked their music. Then in youtube I came across Bassnectar and i've been listening to that genre a lot and no in no way I think its as good as the chemical brothers, its just different. sometimes different is good?

Here's one of his tracks with no wobbles lol. it's pretty trippy , let me know what you guys think

Yeah, I figured most people wouldn't be into it, but it is different and it certainly is good.

Chemicalrudy, your video won't load for me :( to which song does it link?

Brother_Ging: Hey, I like it! I can always count on you for quality dub-tracks.

Okay, here is a song the is very NOISIA-like:

Here is one of his most unique song. Personally, I call this "Panic" or "Wasp Fighting Song"... because I played it while my friend was trying to kill some wasps. Awesome sounds I've never heard, and phat beats, multitudes of drops.

To be fair, Reso's been producing dubstep for a long time so he's not really recent. He was Rusko's roommate in 2006 and started producing then.

And this is perhaps his best track to date, sounds very similar to Hybrid until the drop is unleashed:

FreQ Nasty is one man bro, but at least you know he's been in the game since the late 1990s during the rise and peak of nu-skool breaks.

Bassnectar's older material is much, much better than the recent dubstep productions that cater to hipsters, dudebros, and prostitots.

Ah, I didn't know that they were roommates - interesting. I wonder what took them so long to do a track together?

Not one of my favorite tunes... but I guess its better than what Rusko has been doing lately. Sounds a bit like Pendulum, oddly enough :???:

Here is some earlier, Reggae-esque Bassnectar:

Thanks Csar.

@Electrotek - Sorry I thought FreQ Nasty was a duo. I remember a guy rapping while the other one mixed the beats

I think I'll just keep posting dubstep, since this seems like a friendly zone to do so.

This is a pretty rad remix of Justice's "Stress"

And here is a bloke I think that I like—some of his stuff is cheasy, but some of his productions are just super-raw.

Fuck Skrillex, he's one of hte most overrated hacks I have ever come across.

See the amount of hate he's getting on the Coachella forums: http://coachella.com...ead.php?t=44368 LOL

I saw a picture Skrillex once, and I thought "wow, that guy looks like a douchebag." And after watching that video, "Yup, he's a douchebag." I tried listening to a bunch of his stuff on the hypemachine yesterday, but I only liked certain songs.
For example, I sort of like the song on the youtube video in the Coachella thread, which is his remix of Benny Benassi's new single. I'm actually not fond of the Benassi part, but I don't see much of a problem with Skrillex's production.
While everyone is saying "he is shite", they don't really explain why really. Some say "it sounds like power drills." Well, so does Justice's song "Stress." The actual structure to his songs is fairly dynamic compared to some dubstep producers like Rusko or Benga (both whom I also like at times). And instead of going with bassy "Wub-wub"s, he is doing something different by applying the same technique to higher-pitched noises. "What a travesty!" say the alleged real dubstep fans.

Here is an interesting quote from the linked forum:

Quote

skrillex is exposed as the shallow fraud he is by the sonic palette and creativity of guys like jakes and 12th planet

The funny thing is that 12th Planet has worked with Skrillex on at least two songs. But if 12th Planet (who I also like) is such a "real" dubstep producer, why is he stooping to such low-levels such as working with Skrillex?

This guy basically feels how I feel now:

Quote

I heard Skrillex's shit and I thought "wow this guy sounds different, I kinda like him." [...]. I didnt understand this, along comes a guy that doesnt sound like every other fucking dub-step artist and he gets all this hate.... then I heard Skrillex at a party. Seeing the people that reacted positively to him completely changed my perspective. His fans are such tools. Not too mention his music isn't fucking danceable at all. All the girls stopped grinding and just started dancing awkardley shouting "yeeeaaa Skrillex!". I did not like this

So, basically he is a really crappy DJ, he attracts wankers, and he himself is a wanker. But I'm not going to join in this extremely dogmatic tirade against him as a producer.

Oh, and here is a song:
