I heard little bits of Slash Dot Dash on Radio 1 a few days ago (maybe Wed or Thurs), it wasn't on very loud in the office I was working in. It seems pretty cool, quite big beaty, the vocals are very Norman Cook though! It's got that FBS cut-up thing going on! I shall buy the album if this song is anything to go by

i heard Slash Dot Dash on tongs show on friday. good old fatboy, he put a smile on my face with that tune!! i'm not that bothered by his tunes but slash dot dash is norman doing what he does best, making great quirky tonge-in-cheek pop tunes. i love the way he is taking the piss outta modern life with this tune!!

If you want to hear a different edit of Slash Dot Dash (which only seems to air on Tong's show), click on the link below (this version is about four mins and has different samples as opposed to the 2 min version that was exclusively played). Click on the link below and go to 46 mins.

Well the Radio 1 dance shows over the weekend have played two new tracks off the new album.
To listen to Jin Go Lo Ba click on the link at the bottom of the post, then click on the 'Annie Mac' link and go to approx 12 mins 30 (there's also EBW7 at 26 mins 05 and also some DJ scratching tuition from DJ Blakey in this show).
To listen to Don't Let The Man click on the link below, then click on the 'Blue Room - Sun' link and go to approx 1hr 41 mins. This version has been re-edited at the 'break' and is not quite the same as the SSX3 version.

I downloaded the album from p2p one week ago, and of course I'll buy it when It will be in the stores (it will increase my collection of hundreds of "all original albums"). ;)
I use to listen to an album before buying it (the CDs are not so cheap)...
Palookaville is a different album if compared to previous Fatboy material; there are many collaborations in it,
and this gives the album a "pop music" style (you could or you couldn't like).
If many of Fatboy Slim fans could be disappointed of this,
I'm pretty satisfied and I really like this album. :)
This is a new Fatboy Slim, much "professional", much "mature";
the sounds, the rhythm, are well balanced and integrate lovely with the vocals. :)
My ratings:
?Don?t Let The Man? > 8/10
?Slash Dot Dash? > 8/10
?Wonderful Night? (featuring Lateef) > 7.5/10
?Long Way From Home? (featuring Johnny Quality) > 7/10
?Put It Back Together? (featuring Damon Albarn) > 7/10
?Masochistic Baby? - good sounds (in some points it remembers me the Chemicals) but horrible vocal sample > 6/10
?Push And Shove? (featuring Justin Robertson) > 7.5/10
?North West Three? > 7/10
?The Journey? (featuring Lateef) > 6.5/10
?Jingo? - you will sing "jingo ba" for days after you'll listen to it > 8/10
?Song For Chesh? - no vocal sample for this psichedelic track, but not so special > 6.5/10
?The Joker? (featuring Bootsy Collins) > 9/10
The entire album > 8/10 (I give 9/10 to Surrender and 6.5/10 to AONO)

how cool is this!!!!!!!
Fatboy Slim?s new album is set for a totally unique launch party.
Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club are going to be playing their Coca Cola Championship match against Sheffield United in Palookaville on the 2nd October 2004. For one special occasion the Albion?s Withdean ground in Brighton is going to be renamed ?Palookaville?, the title of Fatboy Slim?s new LP.
Norman Cook?s support for his local team Brighton and Hove Albion is well known and Skint Record?s sponsorship of Albion?s football shirts is now in its sixth season. This special renaming takes things one step further. It is fair to say that nothing like this has ever been done at a football club before.
Norman will be in attendance to watch Brighton and Hove Albion play in Palookaville. On the day Brighton And Hove Albion will take to the pitch in a special strip, with ?Palookaville? replacing the normal Skint logo, after receiving special dispensation from the football league. The new Fatboy Slim album will also be premiered to the 7000 strong capacity crowd ? possibly setting a record for the biggest pre-release album playback ever!
The renaming of the ground and the party isn?t just to celebrate the release of the new album by Fatboy Slim. Followers of Brighton and Hove Albion will be quick to point out that their team are stuck in Palookaville anyway. After the previous owners sold the club?s former home, the Goldstone Ground, they now find themselves in the idyllic but not ideal Withdean Stadium. A council owned ground that only holds 7000 fans with thousands of unlucky supporters forced to miss out on supporting their local team. A lovely new stadium in Falmer is locked in public inquiries, with John Prescott sending the planning application off to yet another inquiry just a few weeks ago. Until the new stadium gets the go-ahead, Brighton And Hove Albion are stuck in nowheresville, a Palookaville all their own. The special renaming of the ground will also help broadcast the Albion?s plight loud and clear.
It?s going to be one special game. Fatboy Slim?s ?Palookaville? album is released on the 4th October 2004.
Norman Cook comments: "I have been a Brighton and Hove Albion fans for years. Palookaville's coming home!"
Dick Knight, Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion comments: ?We've had a great relationship with Skint Records and Norman for over five years, during which time like every Albion fan they've experienced the quaint idiosyncrasies of our temporary home. So when Norman came up with the name of his new album - 'Palookaville' (a place for bums on cold wet seats and no shelter) it seemed totally appropriate to re-christen Withdean for the launch home game. It's a bit of fun and the irony won't be lost on everyone who knows why we need a proper stadium. We'll also take the field against Sheffield United wearing our new navy alternative change strip, sporting 'Palookaville' on the front instead of the usual Skint logo. We'll also wear this shirt at some big away games following. When Brighton comes calling on the ex-Premiership big shots, they need to know where we're coming from."

Wow! That sounds like a party! If I had the lotto bag, I'd gladly hop a plane.
Today I read an interview with Norm in mixmag. It was a good interview, not too long and it was actually quite personal - it went into how reporters were tapping his phones and completely invading his private life... I was taken aback at reading all he went through and how under the microscope his private life and marriage had become, and how this impacted him as a person.... Anyway, it seems like he's working it out and the new record has quite a few references to Zoe and I think that's very sweet. I'll def give this record a try.
Plus, I want his smiley face ring! Oh, and the "I wish Fatboy Slim would fuck off" t-shirt that he was sporting in one of the pics. ;)
