:D I've just been getting into Deadmau5 lately. I'm really enjoying For Lack of a Better Name, particularly "FML", "Ghosts N' Stuff (vocal)" and a few others. Verruh nice.

@inchem - I never thanked you for the current link to planetdust. Unfortunately I am not the man that can update the site, but hopefully it will be brought back sooner than later.

@inchem, whirly and satur8

Hey guys, and hi scott, thanks for the e-mail!

I've read your posts regarding planet-dust, and was pretty surprised, that you still love and use it as an archive!

Back in the early 2000s (wow, i mean, millenium was just a while ago, now I'm talking like "back in....") I was active in this forum and visited planet-dust many times. Suddenly from one day to another, the site was down, so I contacted the admin (David in this case) and provided him help on site. He informed me about the hosting problem, that there was a traffic limit, due to this reason the site got offline once too many people visited it. I offered him my hosting solution for free, as I don't have any traffic limits and I was interested in keeping the site up and running as long as possible; therefore we moved.

David sent me all files on a CD-ROM via airmail, since it was too large for the upload speed at this time *nostalgic*...

So I started to host this site, David edited it from time to time.

Since David got pretty busy at his job during the last years, the site wasn't edited for a long time.

In hope, that David and me will both have time to updated it in the future, we decided to just let it remain on the internet.

Unfortunately, we didn't have this time, so this year David cancelled the planet-dust.net domain, since he is willing to move because of his job to a foreign country and he just can't work on this project anymore.

I felt nostalgic (again) a a bit sad, that planet-dust would have to die because of that. So after 5 or 6 months of being down/dead (May 09 until a few weeks ago), I took the backup I had and moved it to my personal hosting as a subdomain, since I couldn't buy the planet-dust.net domain anymore...

I edited all dates, contact data (dust@laserjay.net) and names to match the actual situation, and kept the site running.

Right now, it's meant to be some kind of web archive, for all those who want remember planet-dust, as you do.

I wanted you to know how the situation is, so David is out of planet-dust for a while, me too for a while, but I'll continue hosting it as long as I have possibility to.

I'd like to keep it as an archive, but when someone has time and the joy to work on it, I could imagine to provide him (or her) the files to update it.

So if there is someone out there, let me know, I'd like to help if someone is seriously interested...

I'm glad there are still people like you :)

Thank you,

Lazar

Thanks for the update. It really was an excellent site and a great referene. I used your discography more often than the official one here. Hopefully somebody will be able to pick up the reigns.

In the meantime, you should continue posting here every so often.

Thanks @whirly! :)

That's pretty cool that you did that @lazi ... Yeah, I just got super busy with things, which is why gotglint.com went away. I used planet-dust quite a bit for reference when I was trying to piece together the discography... as well as chemical bits and the russian chemical archive. (those were the bigger ones at the time)

Plus, the whole reason I wrote the back-end for gotglint.com was to keep my own discography and to learn some new PHP techniques. Well, discogs.com works just as well for that now, and I haven't needed any side projects lately. :)

anType still upkeeps discogs, doesn't he?

Great topic Whirly...and great to read peoples thoughts!

I have to say, Surrender for every reason possible...It was a fantastic time in my life, just leaving school that summer, sampling the delights of drink nd care free days, it was a beautiful time...

Surrender is the perfect album, an album I never have trouble listening to from start to finish, its a story, the true sound of psychedelia, The Sunshine Underground, Hey Boy, Music Response, I cant pick a winner, but when i think about the album, firstly i usually think of the Sunshine Underground....

I love the artwork by Kate Gibb, some artwork just doesn't fit the music, but the chems have always got this right, and especially on Surrender, in my opinion.

thats me! :-)

My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

Hey, I'm surprised that i just came across this. I know i'm dredging up old threads but this one really interested me and i feel it's relevant with hype for the new material.
Just last night i started copying all my chems collection onto my new laptop for transfer to my iPhone so i can play their stuff in work/at the gym.

I've just come across Silver Drizzle and Scale again, seriously haven't heard them in SOOOOO long it's like listening to new material!

I've also realised that i've lost the Rock Drill, Seal and No Need that i d/l'd off iTunes a few years back. Thankfully I have Seal and No Need on a CDR somewhere but if anyone can help with the Rock Drill to save me some time searching it would be much appreciated.

Anyway, on from that I've been listening to Surrender and WATN over the past few days. My absolute favourite is CWU and for similar reasons to Brother_Ging on page 1.

I'm gonna stick on EPD and DYOH over the next few days and see how that makes me feel before going back to PTB and finally, CWU.

Just a little trivia - I was downloading Swoon from the network music store on my phone last night when i decided I would see what else was available on the store. Trawling through the 'Realtunes' i came across two songs i didn't recognise...
1. Elektron: now when played this is undoubtedly EBW7/Acidchildren, does anyone know if this could be a limited vinyl print name or did they just make it up?
2 Wizard: and again a similar situation, this is EBW9 intro.
Do you think these names are a limited name like the whole thing with Fake Blood/Erol Alkan playing 'Animal Track as Problem/Question?

Ok, that's it from me for now. I'd better do some work instead of trippin around on the board!

It'd be interesting to see if those really were the track names... Fortunately we have Ask Tom & Ed to hound them about it with!

"Wizard" would make sense for the start of EBW9 considering that their special combination track from the facebook mix called "The Wizard (Chems Rush edit)" [something like that] began with the start of EBW9.

my grain of sand:

+ The Golden Path: i found it re-hearable! every now and then i play it, and along with the video it moves so many things inside me

+ One Too Many Mornings: one of the best intro ever.. it really takes you in in a peaceful vibbbeee

+ Where Do I Begin: well with this song i easily fell in love and still falling

+ Orange Wedge: imagine a something playing the bass.. sounds imposible but i like to imagine that trippy stuff. also how they manage to control that saw-synth thingy, sounds superb

+ The Sunshine Underground: pure love, but imo i think they threw a lot of drums 'tricks' to the long-lastin' intro. so then after all that intro i fly, yes, fly away

+ Asleep From Day: woa this song really gives me a peaceful vibe. love to throw my self on the grass watching the sky, clouds, stars, moon, and trees dancing along

+ Dream On: man i love the 2:36 part when the guitar sounds so bouncy... and then the reprise or 'hidden track' is truly awesome

+ Star Guitar: i wasnt receptive when i first listened to this track, and i thought it was overrated.. but one they i left myself flow and i felt it, the dream-like guitar moves me when im still, but i gotta say the last part of it turns a lil' bit repetitive. love the vocals though

+ Hoops, My Elastic Eye, The State We're In are like 3 songs from diferent artist in the same album. the samples tell you they are californian, french, and trippy respectively

+ Pioneer Skies: a song to get your mind lost and wake up your soul. love the outro

my favs from PTB:

+ Hold Tight London, Close Your Eyes, Marvo Ging, Surface To Air. they got that chemsy fine vibe

and now with WATN:

+ We Are The Night: the chorus is EPIC

+ Das Spiegel: feels sooo cartonish that u cant dislike it

+ Burst Generator: i cant express with words how i feel with this song, probably sure my all-time-fav

+ No Need: there's no need to rush, nuff said. i use to walk along the rhytmn, it slows me down whenever i walk faster-than-usual

+ Snooprah: cutting up that annoying intro is the best b-side i ever heard. also got a cartoonish xilofon/perc that get me in the mood

i feel like Ed and Tom trip out of this world to bring this variety of loveable sounds
