Just reading this now - won't be the same without good 'ol eddy, but i am sure tom and adam will create something magical nontheless. Ed has such a big influence on all that the brothers do, so i am sure eds spirit and style will be shining through the whole concert.

I'm curious to see how the lack of the "Ed balance" will work out for the shows.

Bottom line is I am absolutely ecstatic that the two are still collaborating on the composition of the music, even if the two will not be performing together.

I hope, though, that Ed finds the time to tour in the future.

I'm going to make sure I get to see the new show this year. The 'balance' of the show is something I am very curious about, it promises an unusual but exciting prospect. I was hugely gutted when I read that Ed will not be on the tour, but stoked about the album, the enthusiasm from what I have read in recent interviews. As someone here rightly pointed out, they are still together and still serving us with new material. Can't bloody wait!!

It'll be a weird thing to get used to but its not an arrangement that is unkown in musical partnerships. Tom Findley was rarely onstage with Groove Armada back in their heyday even though he was part of the duo with Andy Cato. Also Will Gregory was rarely on stage with Alison Goldfrapp when Goldfrapp played live. I'm sure there's loads of other examples.
I guess the difference is people are used to seeing Ed up there on stage.

I'm late to the party (again). This is sad news about the live shows, but I'm glad Ed is pursuing a new direction in his career (most people have 8 different careers in a lifetime so I'm not surprised?). I can't imagine T/E performing live through to their 60s to be honest.

Besides, with the bullshit they have to deal with here with the Aus crowd, I'd be surprised if they came back at all. Maybe I need to travel overseas to see them instead. I know Ed is always pissed at the comments they receive when they are here.

Yay to new music though ey! (btw, these smilies are so fucking old)
its a little early but thanks anyway

I think Ed should have Stash be a sub while he is gone. He could take on duties like Bez from The Happy Mondays and be the onstage dancer/hype-man. Viper Hat and all.
