I understand what you're saying Bosco, it was much better they were just ours. But then, would they have made such magnificent tracks as featured on the new album if it wasn't for being in the spotlight?

I couldn't dislike what they've done on their new album, any more than I already do. So I don't know what you're talking about, mate.

Furthermore, this album does a disservice towards the community where it came from. If this is the electronic music world's "salvation" from the dubstep/electrorage crap that has gone rampant, we're in trouble.

Lose Yourself To Dance is the next single, for anyone who is interested. I like the track but may get a bit tired of it if it gets media saturation.

I think sometimes the fan base thinks they are owed something. They are not, musicians make music for themselves (at least the ones with any self respect and talent) and if people like it, well then that's a bonus, but to change their art to suit is selling out.

I don't know why another genre would come in and save us, just stop listening to that shit - done. Journalists always like to write "they are the new x" because that's what sparks interest in the reader. Don't be angry at Daft Punk, direct your anger towards those that deserve it.

You're probably right that I'm letting my disappointment dictate my opinion on the group. I'm annoyed by the market driven fandom versus the natural progression of success from releasing an album. Their marketing is just way overwhelming right now, especially for "get lucky". I just wished they had something better to offer to the public which I could stand by. I would be saddened if this was what influence the future of electronic music.

So in this case, hate the game, not the player.

Have they ever talked about "world's salvation"?

What community are you talking about by the way? Is it the community of narrow minded people who listen to electronic music just because it has some faaaat beats and huge drops looolz?

Stop talking non sens please.

This album is great musically speaking. Plus it has been nicely mixed and mastered unlike many records that have been released for the past few months/years. That's a fact. Now, it's totaly fine if it doesn't do it for you. Just go listen to something else and give daft punk and the so called community a break.

I think if you listen to a lot of mainstream radio (Radio One, Kiss FM etc in the UK) then there's no escaping the hype and it can start to get on your nerves to the point where you start to dislike an artist you previously loved. It's not just the fact that particular song is on loop, day in day out, it's the fact we're music snobs and we don't like to share OUR music with the general public who are a bunch of brain dead, soulless moronic pricks. When they start singing a song you like, a little piece of us dies. I avoid this by not listening to the mainstream radio (I love Absolute Classic Rock and XFM) and letting those people we hate pass us by because if they can get joy out of something, who are we to say otherwise?

Oh, how I understand where you're coming from, Iggy. Something like that happened to me years ago when after decade of listening to Nick Cave, when he released that accursed Where the wild roses grow and, lo and behold, suddenly every jerk wanted that song and was like: oh, you listen to that weird dark music, can you copy me this song? it's sooo lovely.
Of course, that stance is totally ridiculous looking back now, but as you said we are music snobs and hate sharing our understanding, our passion. And totally agreed, best medicine is to just stop listening to mainstream media.
Lol, when it came to Galvanize much later, same story, I was quite happy that more people did express interest in our brothers. Sure, most of 'newbies' thought that they are hip-hop band but hey, some of them liked Surrender, so they can't be that bad. Posted Image

I guess you guys are missing something with the concept of music : it's all about sharing. That what radio stations used to do : sharing brand new tracks with people to "educate" them. That's a shame it doesn't work this way anymore, though it's getting better than it used to be, at least in france.

Keep in mind that we all are brain dead, soulless moronic pricks for someone else.

I have the feeling the marketing is a bit stronger here in America. It's just not getting mainstream radio play, it's used as a promo through television programs, sporting events, video games, and covers by reputable bands...

(for what it's worth I've never liked Wilco). Then, you have social media and music festivals creating buzz marketing.

The point is, it's absolutely hard to avoid.

I'm not having that issue over here, but then I don't watch much TV and the stuff I do watch doesn't have adverts. I think it must be an American thing then, we all know how they like to milk the tits out of everything.

Some websites were suggesting that Lose Yourself... was coming out today, whilst others are suggesting the 23rd September. No sign of an official video online yet, so probably not today. If dP can't be bothered to make an official vid they could probably just use this.

So Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show is well known for it's mini-mixes. A guest dj mashes as many tracks as they can into a five minute slot. B Traits is covering for Annie whilst she's on maternity leave. Tonight she had "Introducing Live" doing a Daft Punk minimix. But instead of mixing DP records, they performed the (snippets of) tracks live. I believe they are currently touring a live show of the entire Discovery album.

Minimix.

Might be fun to see IntroducingLive live. lol. Redundant words. Anyway--that was an impressive mix. I'm a little astounded that there are already so many covers of the new music in general--was this all covers that IntroducingLive did?

Edit: This looks to be all covers of the song done by Introducing. (no "live" in their name, at least according to their SoundCloud description).

I have problems listening to the album as a whole.. i can't hear "get lucky", "doin it right" and "fragments of time" anymore!

I'm afraid I played the thing a few times too often. Georgio By Moroder gives me still goosebumps every time i hear it though.

now the hype is over (is it?), how do you guys feel about the album? I'd say it is "pretty good" with some tracks "downright awesome" and some others "pretty bad".

I had that reaction to begin with, except probably even less enthusiastic about the tracks that are good.
