nice, looks a bit like mine, only a non-functioning mono/poly under the table that i need to get fixed. My surrender poster is slightly differernt though...
It's a stretched Surrender cover. It's a bit deformed but I like it :) Plus that's the only chems poster I have :( You can see a U2 poster on the left and the Amon Tobin one on the right :)

i just bought a focusrite liquid mix - aceness compressor/eq dsp card - just tried the distressor emulator on a snare with an old pultec eq - fuckin awesome results! :)
also, have just bought a spring reverb tank for making my own spring reverb - loosk quite complicated to set up through my desk but once its done its gonna be ultimate rawness - oh yes :D

Could you link a pic of it?
Well another question is: I need some sound card recommendations and I believe you're quite a good persona in charge. What's your advice? A good price-performance ratio would be fine.
Btw, do you have some new tunes in petto?

sure man - heres the focusrite: http://www.focusrite...uct/liquid_mix/
good sound card - hmm - do you need lots of inputs/outputs? i use the emu 18/20m which has 8 ins and outs (with the pro-tools converters - nice) which is suitable for me to run stuff out to my desk. it was about £450 when i bought it though...
are you using it as a PCI card or firewire based?

oh, and as for new tunes - ive been really busy with college at the minute (should be writing my dissertation right now tut tut haha) - but im producing a funk band called baby charles at the moment:

we've done all the tracking, i just need to mix it now. its scheduled for a release in october on record kicks, the label that puts andy smith of portisheads compilations out. very exciting! :)

Well, hmmm haven't had much analog instruments to plug until now, but it could change someday. At the moment (or for years now) i only have an onboard soundcard (simple thing). Is a firewire solution better than onboard? Ahm, the ins: are these basically midi-ins?
Man 450pds??? That's frickin' much money for a simple mind producer like I am. Maybe something in between.

ah ok, to answer your questions:
you def need to get a soundcard with asio drivers in them. the ins/outs i refer to are audio ins and outs, not midi.
if you can get a pci card over firewire - pci will always perform quicker though firewire is acceptable these days - if i had a laptop i would get firewire, but with my desktop i always prefer pci.
for a cheaper alterntive m-audio do a good range - if your not sending multiple audio channels out of your soundcard into a desk something like the audiophile 192 would prob do you.
as for being a doc haha not quite though i will be able to put BA after my name, should i choose to. (i wont ;)) only 4 weeks till my course s finsihed! 4 years, ill miss it when its gone but i wont miss the 8000 word essays :(

......sorry I came over all xenophobe there. must be spending too much time on this forum.
next thing I'll be calling people a newb or whatever it is. grrrrrrr god that word makes me feel ill.
as for the liquid mix. it sounds proper.
I was actually thinking/perving about the options that gives you/us today. especially being able to run multiple instances of it.
I am actually quite excited. which is worrying ;)

did u read that gabriel roth article i sent you? well funny... - i tried emulating his roll bottom end off before tape trick today with the vintage warmer - bloody worked as well! the vintage warmer responds like tape would. not as good of course. but still, all gravy.
