Oh yeah, and two days after saying he wasn't going to leave the Canadian national team to manage the new Toronto MLS franchise, Canadian national team coach Frank Yallop quits to manage Los Angeles Galaxy.
There goes another four to six years in the lower reaches of the footballing world.... fuck...... I just want us to make it to 2010!!!

The World Cup has started! So that means our wonderful countrymen flying over and walking round town centres singing anti-German songs for at least a week ...
The last World Cup was great, everything that happened before it was practically thrown out of the window!! I still remember the first game when Diouf scored for Senegal and the commentator said "this wasn't supposed to happen!" magic.

excellent first day
2 of the german goals were first class, but were definitely assisted by the lighter, zippier ball. cant wait to see lamps, becks and gerrard thumping them in from outside the 18 yard box. german defence did look pretty shocking, i think that when they meeet some stiffer opposition there gonna have a tough time. costa rica were alright, but not disciplined enough, didnt quite have enough quality to retain possesion and do any damage.
poland ecuador, quite a suprise, thought the poles were a bit shit tbh ecuador looked pretty good, but only because the poles were so average - no pace.
none of the teams scared me tbh, looks goood for engerland.

I think my 3 favorites players will be Zidane, Henry and Ribeyri.
I hope Henry will score a lot ! His goal against Denmark two weeks ago was the first one with the french team since a loooong time ago...
Is Rooney better now ? I think I heard he will be in Germany but he's back from an injury...

:o 6 goals in the opener! Shit I'd hate to be a goalie even more so for this tourny, the new ball appears untouchable. Can't wait to see how Kewell and Bresciano treat it.
Tonight the En-ger-land campaign begineth. 8) What a buzz. Not much sleep for the next month.

Day 1:
I'm pretty fucking drunk right now. Worked during the day, so had to catch the games on tape delay. Beer and double vodkas make me happy.
Germany/Costa Rica was entertaining enough, and I was pleased with the result, given my German heritage (and the fact that Costa Rica knocked Canada out on a Wanchope goal). German defense looks suspect, but I really think they'll get stronger with time. And the offensive outlook means I won't forsake them like I did at the disturbingly embarrassing performance at Euro 2004.
Ecuador/Poland was decent. Poland looked shit, but hit two posts and could have equalized. Valencia for Ecuador looks quite the player.
My goal for the tournament is to watch as many games as possible (many on tape delay unfortunately because we're 7 hours behind and I work 40 hours a week) and drink beers based on the countries I'm watching.
So basically this post should probably be in Buzzed Posting.
Today's Drinks:
Radeberger Pilsner (Germany)
Holsten (Germany)
Faxe Premium Lager (Denmark)
Double Vodka and Cranberry (x2)
Sold out of Polish beer. too bad.
I'm smashed. Off to play FIFA 2006 World Cup for PS2 with friends. Work tomorrow.
Cheers!
