Fucking Hell.
That was wicked!!!
We head up to London on the hottest may day for 50 years - nice. we get to my aunties apartment where I'm staying, hit the balcony to drink a few beers to this view:
Pleasant! I went up with my mates andy and dave, who u can see here (im the one on the right):
Wr have a few beers and chill (or sweat proufesly in the sun!), then head over to the academy for about 10.00 to meet my mates mark, julia, jake and anna who have got my ticket. they get delayed (eek!) but we get into the venue before the chems start.
we get inside the venue and it is absolutely boiling!! it really was steaming, brixton academy, more like brixton sauna. anyway, we get in the q for the bar and its like 5 people deep but we've gotta get some fluids before we join the throng! i get right to the front, and i can hear the 'surrender to the void' drifting out of the arena - mild panic kicks in and after much hassle and banter 'fuck sorting out the ice barrel lady just gimme the drinks!' we leg it into the main arena, where i promptly lose half my mates haha.
tom n ed played a blinder, the crowd was well up for it - the set list was pretty much identical to brighton, so im gonan steal sneakers list and put it here with minor alterations hehe:
hey boy hey girl
morning lemon
get yourself high
the big jump
galvanize
block rockin beats
song to the siren beats cut up thing with a sprinkle of leave home in the middle of it
come inside
under the influence
it doesnt matter
out of control
star guitar
surface to air
EBW 6
Believe
acid children
golden path
chemical beats
close your eyes
got glint
private psychedelic reel
and heres some photo's of the gig as well - not brilliant, but it was quite tricky getting good shots in that environment!!
not sure ive got the order right between get yourself high and song to the siren, but i think thats right hehe
tom n ed were right into it, tom doing his jesus arm thingy and ed waving and pointing at the crowd, arms aloft etc - they looked like they were really enjoying themselves.
wicked to hear got glint out again, i love that tune, its so grimy, and with the extra der, ner ner ner epic synth guitar thing in it sounds wicked!! it built right up at the end of the tune into about 5 seconds of riculously intense noise and heavy heavy strobe shit going on then cut completely dead - it was so effective, it was fucking brilliant - really heavily just, intense. ha.
for close your eyes they got some dudes out to sing it with them live! dunno if it was the original singers or whatever, but it sounded really really cool.
visuals were stunnigng as usual, the robots for it doesnt matter and the synchronised swimmers for surface to air were particular favourites - and that fucking clown!!! good god haha - they also had projectors on the side of the academy so visuals wera all around, it was amazing - and the lasers and whole light show just rocked really really hard - i love the way the chems put so much effort into the whole show, not only is the music top dollar, but the whole experience is just, well jaw dropping really.
the only 'bad' point was that it was just too fucking hot - when u left it felt like u had taken a bath with all your clothes on! but no matter, all added to the fun.
anyway, got back to the apartment with me new 'it doesnt matter' t shirt and got battered.
and i now have the chemical afterglow (as whily puts it) hehe
so yep, thank you tom n ed. boys done good :D

Mippio - sweet!!!
It sounds like a gorgeous day was had by all! Even if it was like a sweat box in the venue. How cool that you got the It Doesn't Matter t-shirt.
I see the afterglow is in effect! hehe.
Thanks so much for sharing your story and pics!

I don't want to throw this thread off, but I was just reading in the news that temperatures in England soared to over 90 degrees! And could be the cause for Big Ben's clock to stop ticking for 90 minutes yesterday.
It looks like Southern California and the UK have swapped temperatures - it's cold here in comparison.

Oh man, Mipps, I am so jealous right now, like you have no idea....... Sounds like a fantastic show: I need to see 'Got Glint', though it's a shame if they're dropping 'Hold Tight London'.
I also need one of those shirts.... maybe ebay if my credit card isn't maxed again (it's certainly getting close!).....

friday night, brixton. all right!!!
shame i didn't go, but i was throwing makoosa's first birthday party!! but i was at brixton on thursday which was the same set as brighton.
i am so jealous of the friday night encore. it not to often you get to see live vocals at a chems gig, i cant believe i missed the magic numbers! close your eyes for me without a doubt the best track on push the button. they better have recorded the live version for a future b-side!!!!! and got glint is one of my favorite live tracks.

yeh close your eyes sounded amazing!!!
they bathed the whole venue in like a blue light, and everything just kind of swirled around, and the human touch was superb.
still shining now ;) :)
Wow!!! In my mind's eye I can totally see and feel what you're saying.
What an amazing thing to have heard and experienced live!
