Hi
Do you lot know much about the new single that the Chemical Bros have produced for The Charlatans called "Feel The Pressure"? I heard it live in July at a Charlatans gig at Sheperds Bush Empire and it sounded amazing! I think it's due early in 2004. Can't Wait!
As you'll all know the Charlatans and the Chems have lot's of history with quite a few re-mixes etc as well as One To Another and Life is Sweet and every time they have collaborated there have been great results.
Just interested to know if you'd heard about the single!
Pete

Glad you're looking forward to "Feel The Pressure" too! Apparently the Charlatans recorded it earlier this year and sent it off to The Chem's who speeded it up by 20 BPM's and said re-record it like this!
The Charlies were due to release the single at the back end of this year but Tim Burgess's solo stuff sort of got in the way of that idea. Once Tim finishes supporting the Sterephonics(eek!) arena tour the band will re-enter the studio in December to record their next album - apparently all the songs are decided upon. Where do I get all this from? Well Tim posts to the Charlatans official site to keep us updated!
Anyway when I say "Feel The Pressure" will be out early next year I guess in Charlatans terms, and based on my last 14 years of adoring them - that means about May/June 2004. Seems to take ages to sort all the promotional stuff out etc once an album is finished.
"Feel The Pressure" has been kept top secret though - can't download it anywhere yet! I've got a hunch it will be a massive smash next year - insiders says it's a big, festival crowd pleasing monster anthem! Yay!
Charlies and Chems forever!

I might be risking boring ya'll with Charlatans/Chems "Feel The Pressure" things but the band were even selling "Feel The Pressure" T-Shirts at their Shepherds Bush Empire gig in July this year - way, way, way before the single is due for release - that is some statement of confidence!!!
Okay last boring thing of interest(!) - did you know that the bass line for Block Rockin' Beats was laid down by the Charlatans Bassist Martin Blunt? Well that's what the rumours said at the time and it certainly sounds like his playing and the bass dominates that particular track. Do any of you know if it's true?
Oh and listen to Chemical Risk - a re-mix of the Charlatans Track "Toothache" - It's one of my favourite ever tunes! Great mix. It's on that import CD called The Charlatans UK v The Chemical Brothers which has 5 great collaborations.
I better head off back to Charlatansland before I get chased away!
Take care, cool people.........

what a great band the charlatans are. i was a huge fan of there first album, we only one i know, then and indian rope were a sound track to me 18 years of age. telling stories is in my cd player in the car at the moment. although i grew out of the indie roots i have always had great respect for the charlatans. the chems and charlatans do bounce of each other well. cant wait to hear 'feel the presure'
cheers for the info

hehe, Us and Us Only is currently making the rounds in my player. I have a special place in my heart for the particular record. This woman I worked with a couple years ago (a Universal rep) told me about a Virgin megastore in-store they were doing up in Los Angeles - but I couldn't find a sitter and it was a weeknight so I couldn't make it. Talk about bummed, I was a mopey girl. The next week, the rep brings me a copy of Us And Us Only with a note attached that says, "check this out, I got it signed for you!" That made my month, I tell ya! Especially since it says "cheers Mia" and stuff like that so it's nice and personal. I think the Charlatans helped sum up the late 80's early 90's Madchester blowout, along with the Primals and Stone Roses and Happy Mondays (all of which are never far from my cd changer) and they helped musically illustrate some of the most blissful, life changing events that took place in my later teens and early 20's.
There's this club in Los Angeles called Bang, and Tim Burgess dj's there from time to time (I think he may even own/co-own the joint, but am unsure.) I've yet to make it to the club but am planning to make Bang a part of the rounds time permitting....
