I'm going to download this when I get home from work today... I'd really like to hear it.
A friend of ours had a bunch of cd's that were basically the sounds of the universe (I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same as what's offered here, but I need to listen to be sure) and it was fascinating to listen to. It brought up these images in the mind's eye. I remember this one bit where it "sounded" like a satellite was moving past a celestrial cluster or stars, and it sounded eerily human, like a choir going "aaaaahhhhhhh".

It's beautiful in such an eerie, ominous way. The sounds are organic but at the same time, not really. It's simply fascinating. Not just the sound but the concept. It's as close as we'll get to "hearing" outer space. These clips are exactly like what I've heard from our friends' discs. I'd love to get ahold of more stuff like this, not necessarily to use in songs - but I could listen to a consistant, pulsating hum for stretches at a time (which is what we did on one occasion a few years ago). Tune everything else out and listen long enough and your brain picks up patterns and you can hear melodies - it's really weird... (waits for mippio to pop in here and say what that phenomenon is called ;) )

Yeah a sort of meditation without being gay. I've been looking for stress relieving techniques lately doesn't involve knotting limbs and going "oohhmm" for hours on end.
Yeah I had a feeling people would use these samples for their own performances/compositions :D
