It's not that bad. But for me it sound very familiar and...comercialy. I thought that they get the some breakbeat track on single ;(
i love your trolling style. you almost seem geniune.
please...tell me of a another track that compares to Rize Up that could be concidered commercial. What would you compare it with that is out there floating in the mainstream?

Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this track. It feels like it was written as a B-side, rather than the way they usually do it - where the pick a song that didn't make the album coz it didn't fit with the mood. Or where they remix their own tracks (Enjoyed, Diamond Sky, etc.).
It's ok, but there wasn't enough to keep me entertained. It sounds like an intro, like it's building up, but never quite gets there. Sorry guys, this one hasn't bitten me yet. It may do in time, but after a couple of listens, I'm not blown away. :(

I like Rize Up, its cool. That synth bassline is groovy :D
I like the eastern-style riff too - almost like the Chems are going all Beatles on us! Which can only be a good thing, since the beatles recorded their best (and not to mention most psychedelic) stuff after George suggested Ravi Shankar should pop 'round for a jam!
Peace X-D

I now own this and I love it - when the e-mail said galvanize was 'dark and brooding' these are the words I instantly associate with rize up, I think the point when the first 'rize up' sample plays is wicked! It sounds like the 'old' chemical brothers sound mixed with the new one. The bell sample is excellent too. It's a bit strange that it doesn't have a massive breakdown but I think it adds to the whole atmosphere of the track.

hmm... funny you should mention this, i dont know if its just me but i think the chemical brothers have always been 'going beatles on us' considerring that psychedelic era is where they draw a lot, if not, most of their inspiration, correct me if im wrong on that one...
Take TPPR for example, i was playing it in the car and my Dad piped up with : "That's a very 'Ringo' drumming style" to which i replied: "I know - i think it's kinda their homage to the Beatles!'
And SPEAKING of TPPR... isnt TPPR the name of some old Paul McCartney bootlegs or something? Or some other beatles thing???
Isn't Ed actually Ringo??
The Chemical Brothers ARE the Beatles aren't they!???!?!?
ARGH.... ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I've heard is that "The Private Psychedelic Reel" was the name of a Beatles bootleg record released in Japan. That was in some kind of interview or something. Or this site: http://www.wakinglim...ic/albumsc4.htm
says that it was "a recording (of the same name) the Beatles made for themselves to listen to whilst under the influence of alcohol and mind altering substances." In any case, it has something to do with the Beatles!
