always thought it was 'b-boys'. Never thought there was any discussion on the subject.

Ok so that's the original source riff, followed by Chems riff, then both mixed together, then at the end Chems versions of hhhhh and bbbbb :P

It's just that to me on the absolute no tweaking version of "roof is on fire" they definitely say "b-boys" and I can't hear that it has been changed other than a semitone or so higher on the Chems track.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! :-D

Everyone should listen to this before they decide. Its obviously saying a "bee" instead of "hey" when you repeat it and whatnot

While the beat does fall right on the alleged b or h at the start of the word, you can hear that there is a major difference of the rest of the word compared to the "hey" so that it has an "A" sound on the end while the part before boys has an "E" sound. This makes it most likely b-boys. Just listen to the nicely put togethor clips Glako has given us over and over. You should be able to hear a difference

Why not ask Ed himself instead of all this childish yes/no banter?

I've always had a question - the song name's hey boy hey girl, and the sample goes hey girls, hey boys! why?

Heard the original song from that radio show (Beeblebrox?) - definitely sounded like hey girls, hey boys.

We need that Ask Ed n Tom section back! Maybe on the forum!

I dont know why most of you guys actually thought it was "hey boys". I mean it is obviously a word starting with a strong 'B'.

But here's a twist - from the first time I've heard it I always thought it was "Hey girls, BIG boys", it just sounded like 'BIG' to me. Now looking at it, it could be a 'b boys' considering a sample came from a hip hop group.
