i dont judge a lineup by how many big, commercial bands there are, i judge it by how much it appeals to me. so far, this one is the most appealing of them all.
living in aus means i kind of have to adapt to the fact that perhaps 1, maybe 2 HUGE bands tour here so i kind of tend to lean towards and listen to more of the smaller ish bands.
Unless you live in Alice Springs, I can guarantee that I see as few top-calibre acts through here as you do in Oz. I love smaller bands that nobody around here has heard of...
... but the fact of the matter is that despite seeing many a good show, I've yet to see anyone match what the Chems and the Prodigy put out for performances last year at Coachella. Period. And I can scarcely imagine anyone doing so.
Other than the fact that I wish good artists success, I could care less about how well a band sells albums. I'm not generally a fan of "commercial" music, but sometimes, just sometimes, bands deserve to have big names and big reputations. The headliners and subheadliners of past Coachellas deserve those reps far more than this years.
As for who performs during the day, they have good bands every year at Coachella and this year is no exception. My money on best lineup is still the Saturday in 1999, though.

As for the little piss-fest on here ...... Can we get back to photoshopping movie posters, please?
yeah i totally agree with you, daft punk are probably my number 1 act of all time and dance doesn't get more commercial than them so i dont give a shit at all. i will say that the chemical brothers at the hordern pavilion 2004 in sydney was the best performance ive seen
