I could care less about the Super Bowl, but I managed to doze my way through it this year. My brother works in advertising and the Super Bowl is a big deal for companies that dish out ridiculous sums of money to pimp their wares during the game. So we primarily watched for the ads, most of which were as much of a snooze fest as the game, or overly patronizing to our men and women in the armed services.

It seems the multilingual Coca Cola ad (which was one of the better ones to air) pissed off a lot of 'merikans, so the racist aftermath that ensued online has been somewhat amusing and shameful.

Other than that, life is happening in this between-album lull. I was sort of persuaded into a promotion, mainly out of need for a salary increase (it has been years since I've had a raise, and it was made clear that I wouldn't get one unless I accepted being promoted) As a result, I've been feeling overwhelmed, unprepared, and preoccupied with self doubt in my ability to handle the work.

Not to sound ungrateful, because there are many things to be grateful for with my job. I'm just... Tuckered out. ;)

I'm going to New York in April, though!! I haven't been since new year's 1992 so there's lots to look forward to.

Watching the winter olympics opening ceremony right now, but from what i'm seen so far is not even close to what happens at the london olympics. Is all that happen this child that flys from left to right through the arena? And the musical taste of the russians is a little bit weird, reminds me a bit on the late 90s trance music.

Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.

Referring to the Winter Olympics

Apparently Russia has changed their view on gay propaganda. First it's having tATu performing during the open ceremonies of the Winter Olympics then it's having the Russian Police Choir sing and dance to Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". Russkies be Russkien'.

For the record, I thought the electronic trance music they played throughout the night was pretty damn good. And I gotta admit, I was pretty impressed with the ceremony too.

Saw Four Tet last night. Really good, but more on the "interesting" side of the musical enjoyment spectrum. This is to say, I unquestionably enjoyed myself and the flow of his set was tremendous, but some of the moments were a bit odd. With all that said, however, it was a magical night.

Took the bar exam again the week before last. I get my results May 19th. I'm waiting with heavy anticipation.

In other news, I bought tickets to see Simian Mobile Disco recording their new album in... Pioneertown...

Where the hell is Pioneertown?!???!!!!

Weird. But I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what SMD has been concocting in the last year or so. Apparently they created two or four synths to play specifically to record this album, and they're just going to jam and see what comes out. It might be awful. ::laughs:: But I assume it will be at least minimally amazing because their work as a whole has been spectacular.

Cheers everyone. Hope you all are doing well.

Was it loud enough? I saw him at a festival several years ago, where he had some nice glow-in-the-dark hula hoopers on stage towards the end. But at a couple of points during the gig the crowd started chanting "turn it up".
My feeling was that if he tweaked his live show a bit (more beats and more volume) it could have been a more "danceable" affair, but was nonetheless enjoyable.

Unusually slow day at work today... Thinking of taking the rest of the day off and get myself wasted in some local drinking hole. After all, saw 300 the rise yesterday and need something to help me forget about it Posted Image

Same here! Super slow at work with a couple of callouts, and the weather was gloomy to perfection! Doing apt hunting at the present moment. Have a test coming up soon so I can get a job working for the city. Getting this gig would help me immensely and start my chain of Mexican food trucks!

Ok...maybe not a business of Mexican food trucks, but its just that my friend just mentioned it right now, and i'm hungry and bored.

Oh how I'd love a slow day at work...

In unrelated matters, you know the way you can click on the last post thingy when you're looking at threads on the forum page? I'm finding that sometimes it takes me to the very first post. Anyone else had this recently?

It has kind of always done that - it's supposed to go to the most recent post you haven't read, but sometimes it thinks you haven't read the first post yet.

Been doing some research on Chemical Brothers DJ sets and found this thing, however I can't view it as it's "not available in my country". Can anyone here outside the US view it? I think it's some version of the Facebook Mix but it's about 6 minutes longer.

Not me!

*edit*. I don't have a youtube channel, but what happens if you go to Video Manager and try to download it into your own youtube channel?
