Hey guys, I think maybe it would be nice to share our experiance with others about how to start the band? As I know some of you have a band already and maybe could help with advices how to create it. What should they do first for starting a band? What is better - renting or buying instruments? And lots of other stuff. Thanks.

Better than renting (you're throwing money to the wind) and better than buying brand new: get your hands on used equipment. You'd be amazed at how much stuff people junk when they buy their upgrades. Just because it's older doesn't mean it's no good.
Also start out small, you don't need to be a gearwhore just yet - you can do a lot with limited equipment. Make the most out of what you got and get to know your equipment/instruments.
As far as personalities go in bands... make sure you can work together and take each others' heat and criticisms. Be on the same page musically and personally. I recommend (from pesonal experience) doing something solo first, just to get the hang of it. I used to jam with some friends about 12 years ago but we never serious. I was in a "band" with a guy (a former good friend of my husband) that lasted a little over 2 years but collapsed in 2002. Musically we were on the same page, we made some great stuff I was very proud of - but to be honest we were both too much of control freaks and he was too passive agressive. In the end he went all Jesus freaky on me and used his religious faith to ostracize and criticize not only what I was doing musically, but me personally. The whole thing was sad and disheartening... and the worst thing about it is losing the friendship, though when it stepped outside of the musical realm and became personal I was glad to be rid of that asshole.
Anyway - good luck with the band thing. When you do get something going, there's a thread here to post your music in!

there must be a special chemistry between the members of the band. it is impossible to explain but if there is you'll find out soon.
as well, you need to have the well to achieve something, to sit on a song for ages to mke it could. if you just want to scream and shout and play the guitar on 10 (or 11 X-D ) and play awful cover versions just to get the chicks... go to granny and play at her place

You just need something extra, something that makes you stand out from the crowd, which is pretty difficult these because everything has been tried surely.
To keep the band happy, have a daily group hug to keep the peace and spread the love. Be at one with trees by hugging them too.

Thanks Wirlygirl! By the way about something extra - I can say that there are amount of things that have never unveiled in this world and especially in music! There are as much expressions as many people live on the earth, so everything you have to do is to be yourself and try to embody your feelings and your ideas in music (at least I think this way). And sayng there is nothing untried is a bit weak on my opinion - and this is not concerning to an art only, but to everything.
Actually I have been thinking about creating a band for pretty long time already, but still have no idea how to start and how to find those people who would work with me and all this stuff connected with organizing the team. So thanks a lot for advices - I will remember them.
