I don't really know if this qualifies for a thread, but it's something I'm very very interested in, so fuck it. Dreaming more and having better dreams, remembering them, and so on, that is. Lucid dreaming is also very interesting to me. So, do any of do this type of thing, or at least know things that can help? I've got a dream journal started, I'm getting better at putting myself in a trance, all that jazz. Any easy-to-get chemicals or foods that can help? You know, that whole deal...

If I figure out anything, I'll share it as well...

So far, the only way I have fallen asleep actually IN a trance (I generally get into the trance, wait to fall asleep, never fall asleep, and realize it's 6:00 AM and I haven't slept yet) was listening to trance and zoning out...1200 Micrograms is was. Up the punx.

Ah, a great topic. Although I'm not going to give you my money. ;-)

I've never tried to put myself to sleep while in a trance, and I'm not even quite sure what you mean by it. I have, however, managed to lucid dream a number of times by testing to see if I'm really awake or not while I'm actually awake, e.g. turning off and on the lights while I'm fully awake, and then telling myself to do this in my dreams (though I'm going to have to start pinching myself--my mind is an amazing deceiver: though you're not supposed to be able to control light levels in your dreams, when my mind catches on that it's supposed to be doing something it does, and I've been able to turn lights off and on recently, thus making lucid dreaming more difficult).

I love lucid dreaming, and have found it to be a very spiritual connection. Have fun exploring your mental state. Of what are you taking 1200 micrograms?

Keeping a dream journal is a great way to start getting your mind in the right frame. There are patterns to your dreams, and when you start picking up on them you'll be able to become aware of your dream state.

When I had my first lucid dream, it felt like whatever energy was out there was reaching out to me, waking me up, or at least trying to make me more aware. I'll share it later when I have more time.

::laughs:: I'll have to listen to 1200 micrograms.

Ah - I used to be a big proponent of lucid dreaming and dream interpretation some 20 years ago...

Keeping a journal is good as it helps you realize and understand patterns within your dreamstate. But that will primarily help with dream recall However most importantly you need to learn:

Meditation.

Meditation.

Meditation.

(I just got back into meditating a little bit recently and it is nice to clean the crap out of my attic every once in a while - I had forgotten how nice it is, actually...) Anyway. Just do a google search on meditation and lucid dreaming and read up on how meditation is beneficial (and closely linked) to lucid dreaming. You're on the right track with putting yourself in a trance... but your mind needs to be clear so turn the music off if you really want to mediate seriously. Once you make meditation a part of your routine the rest will fall into place - but lucid dreaming takes practice. You are exploring your mind's possibilities and sometimes it takes a while to make discoveries so don't get discouraged. Just be vigilant.

though horribly off topic I'm taking the lucid dream theme and running with it.....

I just want to say that I have been mental about Franz Ferdinands track Lucid Dream over the last 4 months.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Dl98kUWgQrc

Love how it the first part is similar to shopping for blood (drums wise) and then it just goes technoishly dark! Feels so evil and gives me pleasure at the same time....

as for real dreams....I amgetting some pretty interesting ones lately. They are revolving around the job I currently have ad ones I have had in the recent past. A Few years ago I hated it because they were nightmarish and mostly about my EX (long story told too many times). But now they are about how things have changed at these jobs....there just weird.

Thats my dream report as of late.

And I remember a dream thread a long time back.....but I am too lazy (or busy) to go search it up tonight.

Intresting.

I would say the band 1200 mics is GOA. My brother and i listen to it sometimes.

Dreams...i used to have a dream journal to train my brain to remember the dreams. But since i'm going through a break up and all i dream off is one person i don't really want to remember my dreams because it makes me feel sad in the morning.

I would love to get into meditation and take a meditation class. But since i've also lost my job money is thight here!

I really believe dreams can mean something, or they can mean that when you go to sleep you are constantly thinking about one thing and that comes back in your dreams. That means you can also train WHAT you want to dream, which i find very intresting!

I enjoy trying to remember my dreams and translating them into the current context of my life. My dreams are always very full, although they quickly take me from place to place in a jumbled continuity that seems to make sense only when I am sleeping. I often dream about people I've known at different points in my life. Even if I haven't seen them in 25 years, they pop into my head like I've spoken with them yesterday. In reality they just represent something my subconcious needs to process, but I always find it funny to dream about those I haven't thought about in years.

In my teens through my late twneties I often experienced lucid dreams. I was able to control my dreams and even make myself fly, but I would often wake up soon after taking control. I also had the ability to wake myself from bad dreams.

I thought these traits were skills and would grow as I aged, however, sadly, the opposite has occurred. I rarley experience lucid dreaming anymore, and as a matter of fact, have more difficulty even remembering my dreams when I first wake up.

I attribute it to the additional stress in my life, which has greatly compounded in the last five years or so. I miss my lucid dreams.

I have never tried meditation, but am open minded to new ideas...I just have to find the time.

Great topic.

Ryno - likewise with the Franz Ferdinand track. Evil sounding it is - the other evil one that gets me is Massive Attack's Angel.

Whirly - you're bang on with the meditation. I got taught a bit of self hypnotherapy a few years ago, and the calmness you can bring with doing that can get you through most anything.

@Squire, Agree on Angel. Also sounds like slow, dirty, dark sex music. Another song I find comparable is

Miriwais - Disco Science.
