I can't tell but maybe you guys can help me out. What is the difference between House music and Techno ? How can you tell ?

This is very hard to describe without listening to examples.



I liken techno to a more industrial feel, 4/4 beat, sweeping synths and a clean feel not too textured.



House has a more booming feel, very soul inspired, traditionally a 4/4 beat with more melodies and texture.

House tends to be a bit more "swingy". Techno is - like whirlygirl pointed out - precise 4/4 structures. Generally, the latter is the more "hard" stuff.

House is always one of my personal favourite genre along with Acid.
