It's easy at the campgrounds the night before, but inside almost no one deals nothin'.
fuck, there's not a single other band that I'd cross the street to see playing on day 1. fuck, out of all of those bands on day 1, I've only ever fucking heard of 4 of them.

I hope.
I hope.
I hope.
But look at those headliners. Coldplay... no offense but Come awwwwn!!! Bauhaus, Weezer, and Cocteau Twins... on the mainstage?? I loved Bauhaus once upon a time, and Cocteau Twins are sublime but it's interesting they're chosen to play the main stage especially now.
The Chems in the tent. Well, look at the other people in the tent: Wilco, Keane, Snow Patrol... and look at Sunday's line-up - Prodigy, Black Star, and The Faint are all live giggers, no vinyl to be seen...
Methinks it's a live set.

I can't fucking wait, 300 pound goths in black vinyl wandering around the desert and dropping dead in the 120 degree heat.
if we go, and they just DJ, I'm going to throw a sandwich at Ed's head.

got to say josh wink as a dj is fuckin awesome!! not my think the full on acid house thing. but he really knows how to shape a dj set, much like the chems!!
Yeah, he did a good set in the Slam Tent at T in the Park, along with Felix da Housecat, Basement Jaxx and the Chems. 8)

That, and inside the tents at coachella are like these nightmarish steam rooms where the steam you're breathing is the evaporated sweat of 10,000 hipsters. ewwwwwwwww

yeah, but I don't need a DJ set... I own the fricken album, I can hear someone play it anytime I want... what I need is those two radge bastards on a 20 foot high stage with giant acid clown heads trying to eat me.

You know what? I think chi is right, you are getting old.
I guess the music's too loud too and it goes on too late. :P

When the Chems dj'd Coachella a few years ago, back before Come With Us, they were listed on the line up with "(dj set)" next to their name.
Same with Audiotistic.
I'm willing to be money this is a live deal.
Oh wait, I don't have any more money.

a) They would put (DJ Set) next to their names
b) They have a new album to promote
c) Because they ROCKED the last time they were there (2002), and while they are in LA, they will NOT be playing another gig (read: this is a tour date for PTB)
Hopefully someone big will be playing on the main stage while they play.
Also, I hope they aren't going to compromise on any of the work by Vegetable Vision.
I've got much love for the Chemicals, but I was not down with the DJ set at Audiotistic. They seemed a bit rusty at the decks...or they just didn't care. It seemed like they weren't in good moods (especially after Bad Boy Bill was being a prick)...they had to almost elbow him off the stage.
However, the DJ set they played at Coachella in 2001 was sick, especially after Fatboy blew everyones melon.

The more and more I think about it, the more I think this is a live set. My husband and I have been arguing about this - he says all their gear won't fit into the tent and the visuals wouldn't be the same, they've played the main stage every other time while promoting records - so he's certain the latest gig will be a dj set. I think with Coldplay headlining Saturday and the sort of music reunion going on the main stage, it's edged the Chems into the tent. Well then, more Chemicals in the more intimate tent for the rest of us!! :D
It's a shame they aren't playing another seperate gig in Los Angeles, but I'm not complaining about their upcoming gig at Coachella - no way!! To me they embody the spirit of Coachella, they make that festival what it is, and I've never missed the opportunity to see them there. 3 times I've seen them there and I've been blown away each time!
I was also at the Audiotistic gig you were at. If you do a search you can read my review, it's waaay back a few pages. I had an excellent time, dancing my ass off up in the front - it was a last minute, much needed night out for me, the perfect Chemical medicine for my blues. I thought their set was good although I could tell they were tired - jet lagged maybe since L.A. was their first stop. The people around me in my little posse were cool but I get the impression that most the crowd just wasn't as up for it as they could've been. At the end of the set I could tell the crowd were there for Sandra Collins - they wanted their trance. And I noticed that Bad Boy Bill incident too - not a good way for the jet lagged Chems to start a set. Looking back now, cuz hindsight is 20/20 I feel there was something a bit off with the general vibe there at Audiotistic (which is why my gut told me to avoid Audiotistic in the past) and I think Ed was in dire need of a cigarette. He was doing the nicotine dance, something I'm familiar with beig a smoker in California!
