You know that song on Surrender called "got glint ?"

It's the shimmering look Tom and Ed get in their eyes when they've got a good night to look foward to. ;) Well... so they've said in a couple of interviews here and there!

And that's probably the reason why they call some of their special dj nights, hosted by them, "Glint".

I believe all Glint parties are hosted by the Chems and they do their thing on the decks, maybe have a few other dj's getting their time in the limelight. They had a Glint thing going on at Glastonbury this year.

For trivia's sake, their first Glint night was in some basement at a Portugese supper club somewhere in London. It was put on between Surrender and Come With Us. It was very private and very intimate from what I understand.

(I'm just going by memory, so if any of the above is not true or my info is misguided, please show me the light - I don't want to perpetuate any false rumors!)

And please, if anyone was there I'd love to read about it!!!

Cheers Whirly, I never knew of the history of Glint nights regarding when and where they started. Did anyone on the board go to this one? Anyone know how many Glints there have been and where have they been?

They had that look at Coachella. It was magic. It's the real reason I'm heading to NYE: to see that glint again.

Yeah its cool at the shows when you can see that they are really happy and enjoying it, whist getting fully involved with the music playing. When they dj they seem to take turns mixing tunes, eaching mixing 2-3 records whilst the other chills at the back, selecting the next tunes.

And they're such great taste-makers: they keep picking amazing but unexpected tunes time after time. Can't wait.

At Coachella, Tom in particular was well into it. Had me captivated.

took this from nme

REACTION

NME.COM' s representative is one of the chosen few to hear a selection of tracks from the provisionally-titles 'Chemical Four'...

The CHEMICAL BROTHERS premiered a selection of new material at the second of their highly exclusive 'GLINT' parties last Saturday night (December 16).

At the party, which took place at the bar El Dorado's in West London,Tom and Ed unveiled a number of new tracks - including one which has been circulated on white label to a few key DJs under the working title 'Balearic Techno'.

NME.COM was at the party, and can reveal the new material premiered sounded less trancey than some of the tracks on previous album 'Surrender', with extra emphasis on the percussion to give a more tribal edge. However, the material still retains the pair's signatory production sound.

The dance duo's set was similar to the one performed at the recent Bugged Out! Weekender, and included a new remix of acid house classic 'Smokebelch' by The Sabres Of Paradise, Hatiras current club smash 'Spaced Invader' and the now-timeless 'Jaguar' by DJ Rolando.

NME.COM understands this was intended to be the last 'Glint' for the immediate future. As previously revealed on NME.COM, the pair are now concentrating on recording their fourth album, which is going under the working title 'Chemical 4'.

As I'll likely be just having a bed in a hostel, I won't have any place to offer up.

Bosco, start whoring yourself out for money instead of booze so you can afford to come over and split a proper hotel room with me!

Was skimming through an old Mixmag while, er, taking care of some business in the washroom, and found a brief article on the Chems Glint party at Glastonbury this year:

Chemical Brothers: East Coast Dance Tent, Friday

Outside the sense of weather-related doom is enough to drown in. But inside a collective E overcoat's been provided by the Chems' all-day Glint party. If Ed and Tom's albums push the limits in sonic acrobatics, their DJ sets are audio armageddon. Acid powered re-edits are looped and flanged into staple Chems anthems like 'Galvanize' and 'Chemical Beats' and the beats jump from hip hop, to techno to breaks. To finish they unleash their bootleg mix of 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. Mud? What mud?

Mixmag verdict: The Chems' acid bath washed off the rain.

Sounds pretty good to me....

i dont buy booze when im at home.......my dad is a manager a large retail liquor store and brings tons of cheap and free booze home all the time....so i just simply borrow the booze he brings home

it will be hard to start whoring myself as im usually the one on the other side of the tracks :P
