Hey Ed n Tom!

Been trying to get across to you folks, been running pillar to post, but all in despair till now.

Been on this forum for a few years, and been a fan for almost a decade, - India's a huge country and the dance scene is exploding since the last two years, though I'm too old to go for the raves and the club parties, since I still hear my old favs.

An acquaintance of mine (also an mtv vj, so he is using his popularity for a good cause and doing very well) runs a portal and a very big initiative for dance music called submerge and they've done a lot for the scene in the last few years - brought down quite a few big acts too.

This year they've tied up with a big event management company and want to do a festival on the 28th and 29th of Dec in Goa - and are very keen on having the GODS of live music - you folks, to headline the mainstage the second day. Could you drop me a line or two of direction how to go about checking with you if you'd be interested - India's a fun country - goa's got some nice beaches - the beach town goes crazy from nov - feb with travellers from all over - you guys headlining will definitely have fans flying in from all over Asia (as they did for many big concerts recently) - and it'll prolly be a first of a kind of audience and experience for you too.

Anyone else around here can help me with how to go about getting the Chems to at least hear me out on why they should play this country - pls do leave u'r tips here, would be really thankful.

Stash - can you please make this sticky on the main forum (something like the n00bs corner thread) so I can at least die in peace that I did try my best?

Here's the mail from the guy - a very small brief :

Hi Bro,

It's a 2 day festival 28th + 29th Dec at Goa. The festival will be on the beach / just off the sandy bit of the beach and will cater to approximately 7500 people each day. We're planning 2 stages + a chillout area with food stalls, shops and bars. Start time 12 noon and end time 10pm on both days.

Submerge is partnering with them to build up the event and to creatively manage communications and the artist line-up. We consider ourselves the best gateway to EDM in India with our regular events, fanbase and website. We currently have weekly events in Bangalore, Bi-monthly events in Chennai and monthly events in Hyderabad and Bombay. Our Bi-monthly residency in Goa will kick off in August.

Sponsors haven't been confirmed, but the festival will have the blessings of the Goa Govt. All this information, is of course, completely confidential at the moment.

We'd love to have the Chems play... and will move heaven and earth to make it happen. I'm thinking closing set on mainstage on day 2, or day 1 if day 2 isn't possible. Fees need to be negotiated. travel will be biz class, accomodation will be 5-star in Goa. they can also stay extra days if they wish, either before or after the event for 4-5 days.

Cheers,

Nikhil

Why don't you guys contact their tour manager for something like this?

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

please dont take this the wrong way, but surely any good promoter worth his salt would have those sort of contacts (band management etc) anyway?

kind of smacks of unprofessionalism in a way mate.

Nah, I'm trying thru Virgin too - trying all possible means parallely - i just know that if i get one chance to sell the idea to ed directly, it'd be half the battle won. More!

Just need to reach em fast as I see London Dec dates already being announced.

Jack - have you tried contacting Errol at Myspace?

I highly doubt Ed's gonna come on here and say "sure man, we'll do it". I know it's worth a shot but tbh I have to agree with mipps here...

I'm starting to lose hope.

I think the Bros are really busy and I'm just not being able to get through, through any channel - even if I heard a polite no in writing from any quarters, I'd give up and know I tried my best. Can't even sleep anymore mippio! :p

ANY ideas?

I :

1. Made this SUPERsticky thread to catch Ed's attention

2. Tried through Virgin India, but those guys are taking ages to get a response

3. Created a myspace and actually mailed Errol to help me connect

4. Even wrote to Chaotica - their management company today - still to know whether they'll revert or not - keeping my fingers crossed.

Any neat ideas? Please no jokes, I'm freaking out here. :p

Thanks!

Heard from "someone". He says dec's tough but we could talk on a early next yr date.

He's quoted xxx Euro + internals for a travelling party of 16 people!!!!!!!!! PHEW. Do the Chems actually make that kinda money? Am glad.

Am rethinking this whole thing in a much bigger way - let's see if I can rope in DNA Networks and do a gigantic gig next yr. This one definitely doesn't have a budget even halfway there.

Gonna make it, gonna make it.. WORK!

i dont think you should be posting how much the chems charge for their shows and the details on a public forum. and especially then commenting on it.

i know your excited but your being well unprofessional.

Jack I'm sorry, not to gang up on you, but in your excitement you kinda crossed a couple of lines there.

Gonna have to unsticky and tweak a few things in your posts. We can't have everyone who stops by knowing who to contact if they want the Chems to play at their high school prom now...

I didn't realise - apologies - whirly np bout the tweaking, but do sticky it for a while, wanna see if can catch Ed's attention - from what I hear this dude's giving me crap bout that kinda money, and am sure if I can just get to drop one direct mail to Ed I can make things really work. There'r many very good reasons why they'll love playing here. It's not just about the money I'm sure.
