sorry if this question's been asked already but i couldnt find it in any other posts:

does anyone know where 'got glint?' came from?

im a big fan of the show 'strangers with candy,' and glint is the name of an absurd hallucinogenic concoction (consisting of household chemicals) that amy sedaris's character makes up and gives to her friends to be popular.

i was wondering if the chemical brothers got the idea from 'strangers' or if the 'strangers' got it from the chemical brothers since they often have odd musical references in the show. or is glint the streetname for some drug that i have no idea about? just wondering. . .

hehe, well the message of the show was definitely 'don't do glint!'. . .

on the show i think it was a mix of 'ajax,' 'liquid plumber,' dishwashing detergent, and lighter fluid. the girl who does glint ends up in a coma when she thinks she is a bumblebee and tries squeezing her 'frail, yet popular, body' through a keyhole. :o

easy on the 'druggies'.

glint has no refference to drugs

the brothers got glint from the saying 'you got that glint in your eyes'. it's kinda that magical sparkle in your eyes, like the anticipation before the start of a night out.

The chemical brothers may have songs that seem like there are drug references (or ARE drug references) but they do not support the use of drugs.

That's well put Thor, I remember when the subjetc of drugs came up last, I couldn't find the words, but you just did.

Btw, for the record, that mix of chemicals that azurefaith suggested - not gonna be hallucinogenic, but it'll do a really good job of messing your liver up. Besides solvents and nutmeg, you won't find anything in the home you can trip off.

From what I've read, the Chems skirt around the issue and they choose not to talk about any personal experiences with drugs or how they felt about them in the past, or feel about them now. Kind of like, how they don't shoot the crap about politics and stuff. And for good, smart reasons - they seem like relatively private people who want the details of their personal lives left alone so they can do what they do. I wouldn't care if they spent the better part of the 90's in a tripped out haze, or if they were spokespeople for "just say no" (highly doubt that, but just saying) - non of my business. Who needs people hassling them about such nonsense like drugs when they have the ability to let their music speak for itself. It shouldn't matter, but I do get a chuckle out of the drug references in the songs and song titles. ;)
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Nothing to trip on in my house??????

My brother left his bag of marijuana in my house last time he visited me!!!

Everybody should mind their own business if it's concerning recreational drug usage. If drugs usage is dominating your live somebody should stop you because then you crossed the line. I don't think that Tom&Ed will ever tell you to stop using drugs.

thanks for the info sneakerbeater. . . im not a huge chemical bros. fan yet (although i am becoming one :) )

. . and chemicalfan, i hope my post wasnt read as a "suggestion" of any sorts. i guess i forgot to metion that the show i was talking about was a spoof on "after-school specials" and "very special episodes" that are so overdone in the states :P .

heh. . the last thing i need is to hear about some crazy forum reader dying with lighter-fluid breath and soap bubbles comming out of his nose cause he thought i was serious.

Don't worry az, I'm not that stupid. That's what I was saying, no-one try that, it won't work, you'll just end up in casualty.

@Gundi, that's not you're average household item though, is it??

Well, I dunno, maybe it is, but probably not your average household item talking worldwide.
