I agree with stash tho -- gotta plan plenty in advance. At least 6-9 mo ahead of time, whatever was decided.

i think that i read pretty much everything and I would be down.
To throw my 2 bits in, I went to Puerta Vallerta last year. My mates and I stayed at an all inclusive joint (rooms, food, drink, alcohol) and it cost about 700 each for 4 nights/5 days. We left chicago early morning on july 17th and left mexico late afternoon on the 21st.
We stayed at a place called Rio Vallerta : http://www.riu.com/e...rta-mexico.html
Pretty damn awesome.
also from what i hear, this sort of thread has come through in the past, people weren't able to decide on a date/time/place. If we are serious, someone needs to take charge, get prices, days, and possibly take down payments.
Those who have mentioned it, have said they need at least 6 to 9 months.
My say would be lets aim for just outside of spring break for some place nice and hot.
thoughts?
Suggestions on who should plan?
and (no offense) who is good and responsible with money?

Oh yikes, that's a big undertaking for lil' ol' whirly, prochem - but I do appreciate and am flattered by your vote of confidence. :) I can always try, god knows I spend enough time on the internet anyway. I could always use a career change, perhaps this could be a window of opportunity to get into the travel agency biz... But on a serious note I need to throw out there that on my end there's the issue of time which there never seems to frikken be enough of, and money (we'd have to shell out for our family of 3.
Somewhere cheap, affordable hospitable and lovely is ideal. But to be fair it's got to be ideal for everyone. It can be done but 6 months is not enough time IMO.
This is going to take some digging.

How do you guys feel about Disney World (Florida)?
And before anyone says it, It's not that "Kiddy." Disney World is an experience like no other (I've been a few times). We wouldnt need to do alot of research since they have alot of group options available right away. Plus, if Whirly and Stash wanted to, it would be perfect for their son to come along. The only problem would ,again, be air fare for out of country people and timing.
Just an Idea...

Orlando has a TON of stuff to do. They've also got Epcot Center, Universal Studios, Bush Gardens (which was super fun imo). I think Florida could be lots of fun if we did it during the right time of year. If we want to get group rates etc., let me know how many are possibly going, and I can check into a group Military Discount. A lot of the time you can get some GREAT discounts if I buy tickets at certain places. I'll help as much as I can...

Disney World would rock. I have Disneyland close to where I live, but Disney World would be mega. I want to go on the Tower of Terror ride there. My dad, who has travelled just about everywhere on the planet, was actually impressed with everything about Disney World. He was in Orlando on business so he and a coworker decided to check it out. And this coming from a man who's cranky, crotchety and snippity, says a lot.
Oh - thanks for the offer Matt!!
