How's everyone! hope everybody had a great weekend!

@Pooter

Coachella 08 . .I didn't go this year.I had a death in the family! missed out on alot of great bands! And yes! There is crack in your coffee. I should know . .I used to work there! Ask for a Blackeye when you go in next time(its coffee with 2 shots)!

@Whirls

Powerful words! We got your back girl!

And you know what whirls, do we always have to live up to other peoples' expectations! i think were capable of proving to ourselves that we can be happy and successful on our OWN terms. Besides, I dont want to live my life by forcing myself to make people proud of me all the time! Don't listen to that nonsense! I'm sure T and E had people that doubted them when started doing music but they continued to do their music because they loved it!

Do what you want to do Whirly! Do what makes you happy and proud, and don't listen to the negativity! Im sure your Grandma would agree :)

@Madpooter

How far is she bro!

My girl is coming down this weekend so I'm kind of hyped up about it! Im not sure if I said it here before but she goes out of her way more to see me then for me to see her! She gets paid more then me at her job so she kind of holds down the sexual visitation rights! (she is sooooo going to get banged :)

But really Pooter, I'd keep tabs on her friends because they wont tell you who she's talking too or who she hangs out with all the time! Ask questions bro! I learned the hard way! I had a girl who lived in Seattle and we were together for the long distance crap for 2 years.And so when I flew to visit her, her other boyfriend shows up! She even admitted it!

I took a flight home the next day and cried like a bitch on the plane!

Long term relationships are 50/50 but if yours is working, good for you bro. Oh and by the way, my girlfriend just talked to me recently about what I thought about getting married and stuff!

I told her 'is that a trick question?'

Aww, don't worry about Pooter. From what I gather he and his lady are solid and he totally gushes over her (sorry Pooter, but it's true and you know it :lol: ) From everything he says and from people here who have met her, she seems to be a great girl.

I say more power to those who can hold down long distant relationships - as they say absense makes the heart grow fonder. My brother and his high school sweetheart carried on a long distant relationship for 4 years while they were at college. It was hard at first and they broke up but it didn't last but a month or 2. And now they're married going on 17 years. That's not to say marriage isn't hard because it is sometimes! Very hard and trying, filled with ups and downs and all of that. But that's how family is, and that's family for ya. ;)

As for the big talks about marriage, can't say I went through any of that so no pearls of wisdom... me and the husband ran off and eloped. I wouldn't have had it any other way to be honest, my family and his family in the same room is a recipe for disaster. One thing I can say is I highly advise against getting married on Christmas (or any major holiday) because you'll rarely get that time to yourselves!

Yes, I do tend to gush over her. ::blushes::

@inchemwetrust - No, it's not a trick question. I think Chris Rock said it best when he said, "With women, they go on two good dates and they be like, "Why are we fuckin' around?""

If my girlfriend were anyone else, I wouldn't be in a long distance relationship right now. I don't think I would be able to do this with a mediocre girl... I'm not really into trying to keep tabs on her, nor is she into trying to keep tabs on me. We're open and honest with each other, and if either of us end up having a fling, it's not anything that's going to end our relationship. And on the contrary, anyone who I meet simply reaffirms the idea that I'm supposed to be with her.

It's frustrating, but really it's only a matter of time before she and I do something that will fall in between Whirls & Stash's eloping and a huge ceremony celebrating our union. ;-)

It's all an adventure, really, and to look at it as anything else would be foolish. People who look to relationships for security will usually find that it will end up failing; those who end up finding someone to share their life with, on the other hand, will end up realizing that yes, it kind of feels like it's supposed to happen this way... :)

My partner and I have been together for 4 and a bit years now, We started off in a long distance relationship (so i know how that feels!)

It was a 7 hour drive most of the time for him to see me, or about 10 hours sometimes on the train when i went down there (I was at University) we met randomly clubbing.

It was really tough but well worth it, We've been living together for 3 years now, and i still get the same tingly' feelings when i see him (Even though its every single day!) as i did when i saw him at random points of the month.

Hes definately my soul mate :)

Not to girl up this forum or anything, but I'm here to tell you that dying hair is the biggest pain in the ass. I have to do it so often because my gray is so painfully obvious after 3 or 4 weeks.

I got dye all over my left ear. And it's black dye, so my ear now has this annoying blue-ish tinge to it that resembles the same hue one takes when deprived of oxygen.

*sigh* To be a high maintenance woman. One day I'm just going to shave my head and let the silver strands of time take over... maybe when I'm 50...

So for the US people - what's your plans for the 4th? My 4th starts tomorrow evening. :P We 're dropping the kid off with grandma and we're going to see a DJ set by Peter Hook. Has anyone seen him do a DJ set and if so what's it like?

On the 4th we're heading down to my in-law's and we're going to knock back a couple of cocktails, then park our butts on the sand (me under an umbrella of course, so as to preserve my non-California like skin tone which is a whiter shade of pale.)

Hookys sets are good. I saw him do one back in 04 at fuji rock. really along the electro house side with some post progressive punk stuff including old NO and JD stuff....if that makes sense.

My 4th of july will mostly consist of my brothers 'Rock Band' game he got for the Wii. The drums are incredibly addicting on that game.

Also, over this past weekend I went fishing again with my Dad and my brother. Me and my Dad couldnt catch shit....My brother on the other hand...

Whirly - man, being a girl is a pain in the ass! I only tried to dye my hair once.. never again, I looked like someone you'd only vision after doing acid, not good. Have you tried coconut oil to get the die off your ear? my friend swears by it! or maybe just some body scrub (the body shop do i really good pomegranate one!) that'll maybe help shift it! I don't have any grey hairs yet, although at 23, i'm glad of that! Some people can really carry off the silver fox look.. i dont think i'd be one of them though! whats your natural hair colour?

Bosco- That fish is Hooj, Well done to you, what a beaut :)

Dang, Bosco - that fish looks like good eatin'! :D I'm looking at that photo and what a gorgeous day to be out on a lake, killing time and fishing.

Now for girlie talk - Mitzi, I will have to use the coconut oil like you suggested. It's got to be a lot gentler on the skin than the freakin' acetone I used last night. At least I don't have a blue ear anymore, haha. I am a pro when it comes to dying my own hair and I never had such a sloppy incident with dye on my skin before. My natural hair color used to be dark brown with these sort of auburn highlights. I've been dying my hair since I was 19 when I got my first strand of silver... so my hair hasn't been a natural color in nearly 2 decades now. I used to dye it blue black so it was real shocking (oh my goth!!) but now that I'm older it's too severe so I go a softer shade. If I gave up the dye now, I'd probably be over 70% grey since I now have to pay extra attention to other parts of my scalp besides the crown these days. *sigh* to be old!! But I have considered going back to the natural dark brown my hair used to be all those years ago. That would mean I'd have to strip my hair which would come at a price both financially and physically. Or if there was a clever way to dye my hair and just have a few shocking silver streaks would be cool (in a Morticia Addams sort of way). But it's so dang pricey to get a decent job done at the salon so I've been in a rut dying my hair myself. And to think of all those bath towels I've ruined over the years. :lol:

Congrats on the job!

I'll be heading out to vegas later on with my girl. Going to check out the Mandalay for the first time.I wanna see UFC 86 but she's not into that stuff, but im super excited about us hanging out for 3 days.

Which leaves me to think that I still don't forget about the men and women who are serving our Armed Forces over the weekend. And since I have some family in the military, I feel humble but proud of them who sacrifice their time for us. Not to downplay everybody's mood for this 4th of July weekend, but I just thought it be cool to put this in today's 'General BS'.

@Mitzi

Congrats on the new job!

I don't hear that often around my neck of the woods or from my social network. All I hear is people looking for a job!

@Bosco

Damn that's big! Looks like one of those fish that you see on a plaque and sings backs to you 'dont worry be happy'!

>

Have a freakin' good 4th of July you Chemheads!

I really hope it works, I bet its very annoying! Its tough to because you can scrub and scrub and scrub, but you'll only end up hurting your skin, Hopefully it'll fade pretty soonish!

My hair colour is like a mousey brown! I usually just have highlights now and again (to be honest i haven't bothered for about a year now, I am such a sh*t girl) But like you say having anything done at the hairdressers seems to cost the earth! The one i used to go to tried charging me £95.00 for just a cut! so i changed, but my new hairdresser never really listens to what i say,He loves to hack away at my locks :(

Thanks about the job and Thanks to Inchemwetrust too, very exciting stuff :) xxx

From a Brit to all the Americans on 4th of July - the Notice of Revocation of Independence... (apparently written after the 2000 election debacle)

To: The citizens of the United States of America:

In light of your failure to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary.)

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas,

which she does not fancy).

Your new prime minister, Gordon Brown, will appoint a governor for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. Then look up aluminium, and check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it.

2. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix -ize will be replaced by the suffix -ise. Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').

3. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as US English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell- checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of -ize.

4. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

5. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

6. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. A permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

7. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and this is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean.

8. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

9. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline)-roughly $6/US gallon. Get used to it.

10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

11. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting Nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of British Commonwealth - see what it did for them.

12. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie McDowell attempt English dialogue in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

13. You will relearn your original national anthem, God Save The Queen.

14. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of

nancies). Don't try Rugby - the South Africans and Kiwis will thrash you, like they regularly thrash us.

15. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

16. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.

17. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all

monies due (backdated to 1776).

18. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 pm with proper cups, never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; strawberries in season.

God save the Queen.

Only He can.
