Soulwax - Nite Versions = Two Thumbs Up

Soulwax performing Nite Versions live = Come-in-your-pants good

I'm kind of shocked you haven't heard it yet. But hey, glad you dig it. Hopefully it will give you another percentile in your chance in coming to the show. Because it's going to be come-in-your-pants good.

And bring some paper towels to the show, because it's going to make you come in your pants.

Uhm, what's going to happen in your pants, again? One more time. Just say it.

You know, Whirls, what happens in my pants is solely between me and Stash.

So yea, yesterday my friend gave me like 12 Dungeons And Dragons books with a bunch of dice and stuff for free. He said he was gonna stop playing and told me that I should try it out. Now, i've never played before, and i've heard about those creepy people who live in their parents basement who play DnD all the time. Is it dangerous to try it out? Should I just sell this stuff?

Its not fun at all! Its kind of like those role playing video games, but without the controllers, no system, no graphics, no sound or sfx, and no TV!

See what I mean!

Games like D & D get a bad rap. My husband was a big time gamer and played all that stuff, D & D, Talisman, etc. etc.

These games can be a lot of fun but it's better when there's a group of people as these games aren't meant to be played by 2 people alone. There is this game, Chaos Marauders I think it's called... we played it a few years ago but instead of Mountain Dew we drank hard liquor and as the night wore on we threw out the rulebook and made it up as we went along. It was funny! The more the merrier. San booze, it's no more or less dangerous than any game you'd play on the Wii, PS3, Xbox or World of Warcraft. As long as it's not running your life and you're leaving the real world behind and you don't buy into the whole "D & D is satanic" bullshit - playing an old fashioned game can be a nice change from sitting on the couch and twiddling your fingers raw with a console game.

Our son is turning into a little gamer geek and we spend time playing these types of games with him. It's fun to see because his perspective is fresh and not marred by the stereotypes (not that there isn't a grain of truth to the whole living in your parents' basement thing) that come along with gamer geekdom. We have a couple of friends that come over and play, too - old friends of ours that used to game with stash back in the olden days. My son's teacher last year actually encouraged playing these types of games because the game play is complex and triggers critical thinking and strategy, and dealing with small game pieces helps with fine tuning the motor skills.

Now where's my Mountain Dew?

Ha! I remember those old fashioned church sunday school classes where they told me if you burn D&D Books, little voices and spirits will fly out of them! How brainwashed I was!

Shit! There it is again Whirly( breaking news!)

That's the third time in the last 4 years they do that TV commercial of the 'Nissan' car and truck sales and they play Hoops.

Cmon, what's next! A Ford Focus driving off to 'Surface To Air'!

hahaha, I used to drive a Ford Focus. :P

I can't believe Nissan is still using Hoops after all these years to pimp out their summer clearance event!

Summer Clearance Event! And you had a Focus! Haha! Funniest shit ever! :)

I saw the commercial on the channel 2 news about 10 minutes ago! Wonder if Pooter gets the commerical too in his area?

I'm still laughing as im typing!

DnD is actually really fun. I'm a role playing enthusiast, though, so I'm a tad more biased. It's really easy to act out your character in an environment that's essentially all in your head. And, Whrily's right, the more the merrier! I used to play with 5+ people and it was a blast.

Some bad news on my end, though - Olympia isn't going to work out. After logically talking it over with my parents and my self, with me starting school this fall, a reliable car was what I went with. It was a fucking painful decision, but it had to be made one way or the other. I'm just sad it had to go this way. That's life for you. My gut keeps telling me to apologize to Tom and Ed, but I don't know why. XD!

That said, I have two tickets up for grabs, now. Gotta sell 'em asap, at this point.

Argh, Vorpal! I was hoping you'd be one of the few and the proud representing California at the Olympia gig. :(

If it's not meant to be, then it doesn't do you any good to force it... It sucks to walk in those shoes but given your circumstances I think you made a smart choice.

stash and I were closer to going to this gig than we have been in the past (as far as making it to Turnmills for NYE goes). Though my hubby and I went to London in 2005 as an anniversary present to ourselves, we left the sprog @ home with the grandparents... All in all, we haven't had a "real" family vacation outside of a long 4 day weekend in well over 8 years. I mean, that's just unhealthy!! Given the way things are for us right now, London was a bit out of reach. It breaks my heart and yeah, I feel as a fan I've sort of let down the boys and I know it's gonna be the most awesome show... but I'm REALLY looking forward to spending a week in paradise aka Kauai later this month! :D

I hope you can unload those tickets to a good home!!

Trust me, Whirls, I was pretty positive I was going too, but the economy and life kinda kept me from going. If it wasn't meant to happen, it wasn't meant to. Trying to settle with that now.

That IS unhealthy! Vacations are seriously important. I'm worried about that for my self when I start school. Every "semester" is 5 weeks of hardcore work, and then the next block starts right after. I mean, I can choose to take 5 weeks off, but then I'd lose track of my friends in those classes and get behind. Oof. So much to think about. Awesome that you get to hit up Kauai, though! Heard it's fantastic. ^^

Whirls--once again, have a fantastic time!

VorpalStorm--Sorry you can't go, man!! :-(

As for me, I'm finishing up booking the bits of my London/Italy trip and trying to make sure everything is okay here at work. God... damn there are so many details to keep track of.

Same here Vorpal!

I have the dinero to go, but its the economy and other factors for me! I had problems with my car recently and other stuff that sucked up my wallet, and now I'm stuck here and thinking when the Chems are ever going to come to California! But you shouldn't feel bad bro. And another thing, I really hate that we all can't go and meet up with 'a certain guy who posts here and brags hows he's got his ticket and is laughing at me at this moment'! Anyway, I hope he has fun over there bring back some cool souvenirs for us. AND IF HE'S LISTENING, I wear a Large!

Vorpal - bad news on the Olympia front.

I sold my tix a couple of weeks ago via the forum. I know Den B is still looking for some and missed out - his trip to London is booked with his folks, so there's definitely one potential good home for them. Dunno if anyone has contact info for him?

I tried emailing Den_B when I saw Vorpal's post last night but I haven't received a reply. I really hope he hasn't cancelled his trip!

On another note, I just discovered the joys of itunes ringtones - Scale makes a great ringtone!
