Tom Rowlands said : "The most important feature of the album is that it connects with us emotionally in some way. We hope for finding a new way to make you feel. We dream of new sounds and different frames. We have worked with some guest singers but mostly the album is pure Chemical Brothers."

I know to us, we don't need a panel of judges or an award committee to tell us the Chems are great cuz we already know that. ;) But I like this kind of stuff anyway. It means people are listening, critiquing and taking note. It makes me proud to be a fan and proud of our boys. All the accolades are well deserved. I hope to keep revisiting this thread, whenever there is another award to put on the mantle. ;-)

I think Recognition by other awards committees sets the pace and paves the way to the bigger crowning achievements although it's not always in the bag or a done deal (we all know the Oscars pick some real duds or crap films... and sweep over films that may be more deserving of awards)

The LAFCA awards are influential in the sense the panel is made up of film critics who are already embedded in the industry as career critics. And media is such a huge part of the cinematic machine. An award like this is important in that critical acclaim trumps that of box office sales.

That said I honestly dont know the scope of influence something like this would be on the Oscars or GG but logic tells me these panels of judges and critics all tend to run in the same circles. I could be wrong! I guess we'll see!

It would be great though if The Chems got an Oscar nomination for say Best Song/Score and then blasted out Escape 700 live onstage and then rolled up onstage in Tuxes to collect there awards!!!

was just looking, the Brothers are not nominated for a Globe. Will probably go to Reznor again voor the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. So that will be 2 in a row for NIN

Btw, I like how he sticks out from all these pictures. Tom's the only suit-less guy! Rock'n roll!

Ed, I can't quite say you're aging gracefully, what with the shrinking and all, but you are managing to rock that Jew fro! Nice work! Also, nice suit.

Tom, you look very happy to be receiving that award. Congratulations, sir.

For those of you who might not have caught the news on Facecrack yet, our boys have received another award! This time for outstanding song collection.

From FB:

Today at the The 59th Ivor Novello Awards, The Chemical Brothers were the recipients of the Outstanding Song Collection award, recognizing over 20 years of innovative and popular songwriting.

The awards, which were launched in 1956, honour excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing and are judged by the songwriting and composing community.

The band wish to congratulate all their fellow winners and nominees and to thank BASCA, the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors for this huge honour.

More songs soon!
