Swoon is nothing like Lush, just has a melody quite similar to one of the leads on Lush. It's like saying Block Rockin' Beats is just a rip-off of a 23 Skidoo track..

Honesty is the best policy, I'm not gonna lie.
On subsequent listens, it's obviously nothing like it, but first impressions were as above.
That said, it's still my least favourite track on the album at the moment (subject to change as always!)

it's a standard chord progression, and yes, it is exactly the same as swoon in that respect, but i'm definite that same progression of D, A#, C has been used a million times and will continue to be. go find any pop song in D minor.
but the songs are different takes on a similar feeling... funny that we assosciate The D minor Scale with Summer, and prettyness... i do wonder why that is.
i'm sure we will get a terrible California Swoon mashup soon.

BTW. Mrs. Perry has hit the target with that single. Catchiest mainstream hit in a long time...

These two songs are produced by the same people... dr luke and benny someone... i forget, excepting Max Martin helped with California Gurls.
This is the year of Dr. Luke and Benny-whatsisface, they also did Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA"
this sound is popular and probs will be for the rest of the year, just like for the last 2 years we have had Will I Am at the top of the pop world, now we have these guys. before Will I Am, it was Timbaland, and before him, The Neptunes. these are the people responsable for what trends in pop music.

Thats very interesting. It bothers me how under-credited most producers are (Timbaland is about the only "popular" name out of the bunch).
But lets not forget the good ol' days a few years ago when Soldier Boy was big—remember all that other hell'annoying "hip-hop" that was out then?
