Damn. I can't believe I just watched all of that. It's been 5 years since I've watched this much footage - not because I wanted to forget but because it's just as important to move on and not get stuck in time. It conjures up some sick feelings. The last 10 minutes on that link were hideous in context (although not gruesome) even from 500 yards away.
I asked my son if they did anything in school for this and he said they had a moment of silence. I asked him if he remembered when it happened, being that he was only 3 and a half at the time. He does a little bit, he remembers us all watching the news - and so one of his earliest memories involves this.

I must say im kinda pissed about all the specials on 9/11 the past few days. They spent such little time covering the one year anniversary of Katrina(which was a few weeks ago, an even worse tragedy, IMO, that whipped a whole fuckin city out!)
I understand 9/11 was caused by "man", but come on you really cant compare the ruining of 100,000's of lives with the death of 3,000 people, even if it was by a "natural disaster". But, fact is 90% of those 100,000's of people who got their lives ruined by Katrina, are black. And as we all know, America doesn?t care about black people (except when they can dunk a basketball or score a touchdown)
Sorry if it seems like im raining on 9/11's remembrance

No, not at all Bosco - I totally understand what you mean and I don't see it as raining on 9/11's remembrance. Although the 5 year mark is a milestone for our short attention span, 9/11's on the mind and hundreds of thousands of lives directly and indirectly, have been altered in some way as a result of what happened.
I haven't bothered watching the 9/11 documentaries, I have avoided them puposely. It's one thing to remember but it's another thing to dwell. The link I posted was raw enough and the only thing I've watched, or will watch, for a long time.
Katrina was swept under the rug (except for Anderson Cooper who seems like the only one in the news industry who gave a shit enough to run extensive coverage and specials on Katrina 6 months ago). New Orleans progress has been slower than it could be, but even slower still in the outer lying parishes and in rural Mississippi. I'm sure had there been a catastrophic storm that was anywhere near as horrible as Katrina it may have drudged up Katrina enough to make it newsworthy this past week. But alas 9/11 is once again the flavor of the moment. It'll pass until our minds are distracted once again.
Thank God John Stewart is back with fresh Daily Shows this week. I could use the laugh.

You know what bothers me the most, is that I keep on catching these "9/11 experts" on tv in the morning while my mom watches Oprah or Regis, and they completly dismiss all and any idea of a conspiracy. Thats fine, because some of the conspiracys ive heard are totally ludicris. However, if your going to assure us that these consipiracys are truly wrong, provide some kind of evidence, because the american public has seen NONE.
by the way....did you guys catch Bush addressing the nation last night?
Why the fuck did he have to confuse the American public once again, with mentioning 9/11 and Iraq in the same breath? }:-@ They are two separate issues!!!!
and as for Katrina..... Check out the Spike Lee documentary on HBO, very very good, but so sad.

i love watching him on TV because i know at any moment he could be shot, killed, or whatever, and i dont wanna miss it

hahaha, I think we both started making monkey noises. Watching him make any address to the nation is like watching a commercial for Chile's restaurant. It just makes me naseous, it makes my skin crawl.
I can't bear to hear our president speak... out of both sides of his mouth no less.
I suppose he needed to address 9/11 somehow, especially in light of the year anniversary of Katrina. Which, as an unfortunate and bittersweet blessing in disguise as it was, made a lot of people wake up and smell how jumbled and ill prepared this administration really is. A quagmire so foul even Rove couldn't put a spin on it....
I'd like to catch this Katrina documentary now that you mentioned it Bosco.

Personally I find Bush to be hawkish and shrewd - he may have been a failed businessman but he is a businessman nontheless and it's obviously worked out to be lucrative for him. Whether that makes him not stupid is up to how one perceives the end results. He has one thing going for him and that is he's cunning to the core.
