It's interesting to flip between the channels to see the message being said. Especially considering I am etting CBC (Canadian), CNN (American), and BBC (British) on my TV.

I found out while watching the credits of Fast Five--it wasn't actually that bad!--and my friend, who got me to go, was looking at his texts, and he saw that another friend told him. So, I found out Osama was dead while watching Fast Five--how surreal!

don't think it will make much difference though. someone else is going to take OBL place, someone else will be the person most wanted. we are still going to have our little terrorist attacks here and there. unfortunately.

I know what you mean, it does all seem a bit strange and surreal that they've finally got him after such a long time.

And what's with all those Americans cheering in the streets of Washington and NYC? Is that a deride to the dancing and cheering Arabs in their streets when they've killed some one? Stay true to yourself, don't go the same way they do. That sight on tv was very strange.
So a historical day not a memorable day. Rather strange ...

True! This is nothing more than old biblical tit for tat revenge and doesn't solve the problem at all. I also find it irritating how people could frenetically celebrate the killing of someone, even if he/she is considered one of the most dangerous people (which is open for discussion)these days (although, I do understand those kind of sentiments of those ones, who lost their loved ones!!!). But the government? This is cowboy politics in my opinion.
I somehow get the feeling that this assassination serves another political purpose (besides the obvious "satisfy the people" and "we finally got him" ones). Maybe distraction from whatever is currently going wrong in either their domestic policy or foreign affairs...
This might be changing America fundamentally in the future.

I think we need to look upon it as a cancer being removed from tissue of the world, not to be celebrated, but as a reminder that cancer never sleeps and constant watch must be maintained lest it takes away our right to live and think out of constrains of religious dogma and ideals...

Then again I wasn't there with the Navy Seals, so I don't know if anyone in that compound was armed to the teeth or not. My guess is they likely were, and they weren't going down without a firefight. It's just a hunch... There were probably a million and 1 variables to this military operation, none of which we know enough about to be passing judgement IMO.
I will say I don't like how the body has already been disposed of. Something doesn't seem right. I can smell the conspiracy theories from here.
Lots of criticism now over the amount of money the US is giving to Pakistan in aid, especially if they knowingly harbored a terrorist. One of my concerns is how this might affect Pakistani people who have immigrated to other countries.
