Hahahaha X-D

Come back Chi! We need some more females on this board !!

Thanks so much everybody for those words....it really makes me feel good people understand what i am trying to do.

Bosco - i see you're point. However.....it's not really like you think it is. There USED TO be good money in modelling. And there still is when you are modelling on a high level. However , i'm starting to make less and less money.....i made good money for about 3 years but i am starting to work less so less money. Plus , the lifestyle i have needs a lot of cash. Think of rent , plane tickets , all that stuff. When i lived in NY rent alone was 1200 $ a month!

Plus , i believe money isn't everything. Would you prefer to have a job youre really happy in , or one that isn't thw right job for you but you make good money ?! I know what i would choose ;-)

Slipvin - Oke oke je bent soms wel grappig :P

Chemicalfan - Flaky...Hmm.....i guess i'll just take that as a compliment :-P

Whirly - thnanks for that wonderfull compliment !!

NO but seriously it really makes me feel good to read everybody's reply.

Now i'm off to buy a new sweater that says " Loud Ass MotherFucker "

Bwah!

Dutch isn't THAT hard to get the gist of, even without knowing a word of the language.

I understood the intent of all three Dutch sentences in this thread even before I Babelfished them. Very similar language to English in terms of sounds and sentence structure. Context, of course, is the most important tool.

I recall at least two times over NYE last year where Jeanie and Ed were surprised that I understood fragments of their Dutch conversations with each other.

I wish my language skills were better. I have a rudimentary grasp of French that slips with each day that passes. I'm fine reading it and writing it (or would be with a bit of practice), but can't think fast enough to speak it and especially to comprehend it when a native speaker is rattling off sentences like machinegun fire.

Would like to learn some Spanish, as many of my friends speak a fair bit of the language, and one of my best friends is a recent immigrant from Mexico, and I would love to visit both Mexico and especially Spain. Don't have the time though to learn, unfortunately.

It was probably just the jet lag and the fact I was pretty drunk, but I had a hard time understanding ENGLISH in London the first day or so. Wasn't until I met up with Mips on the second night that I really got my bearings in the city and the variety of accents.

Jeanie taught me how to say "Eat shit" in Dutch!! X-D

It's funny, there were times when I spoke with her on the phone and it was real early in the morning and she'd been up all night. The more tired she got, the more Dutch she spoke. I understood what she was trying to say for the most part but then she'd say something in Dutch, then pause for a bit and say, "Dammit, I wish you could speak Dutch because I am having such a hard time talking right now!"

I wish I had taken Spanish instead of French because being in California, knowing Spanish would be very handy. I took over 5 years of French throughout school and I've all but forgotten most of it... but I would hope I'd know enough to find my way around should I actually make it to France one day. Then again I'd probably sound like every other American trying to be cultured by attempting to speak French, so I'd get laughed at. X-D

I remember my first trip to the UK and I had a tough time with the accents at first. Living with a host family in Cambridge, the lazy East Anglian accent was the order of the day - my host brother being damn near unintelligable. Whatever he was trying to say sounded like a muddy mess the first week. I'd just sort of nod, shake my head, use body language... I felt like such an idiot. And finally I had to say to him, "I'm sorry man, but I have no fuckin idea what you're trying to say!" Of course this was amusing to him. Anyway. I had a tough time at first with some of the television shows, my host family watched Coronation Street and god knows I couldn't understand a damn word of what they were saying til I'd been in the UK for a few days.

The thickest I've encountered was the Glaswegian accent. I had a really good friend who was from Glasgow - really sweet guy, loads of fun but I told him straight up "I can't understand you" and thankfully he was patient. It took a good 4 solid weekends of hanging out with him before I finally got a grasp of what he was saying. I have some video around my house somewhere of this cab ride we took in Glasgow and his mouth is going a mile a minute. Good luck trying to figure out what the heck he was saying!
