Hi, I'm a newbie so have no idea if this question has been asked or answered, but does anyone know what the metallic bell-sounding sample is at the very beginning of Get Yourself High.

It reminds me of some 70s TV show or movie.

It's been running through my head for days and I keep thinking I'm about to remember what it is, but then I can't.

It's driving me nuts.

Ari

welcome to the board! it's probably not sampled. it is a somewhat basic analog sound that anyone could make (with an analog synth), of course it could sound like something familiar since analog synths have been around for a long ass time. the chems rarely sample stuff other than vocal samples and if that was sampled it would've been in the footnotes

Actually... most Chems records are built out of samples...

Actually, EPD and DYOH are more made out of samples and Surrender and CWU are more like their own shit. Sounds that they made with some samples taken.

I'm sure the Get Yourself High Thing's a sample cos it's just so damn familiar.

Perhaps I'll remember what it is at 4am tonight.

Talking about samples, I heard the sample used in Pioneer Skies (that bell sound) in another record, I don't remember which one but I've got it. Somewhere. Anyone else know what I'm on about?

Most of their beats are constructed with bits of other records.

that sound at the start of gyh is so not an analogue synth its obviously an fm synth such as a yamaha dx7 or soft synth fm7-you dont get harmonics like that from an analogue synth
