Tom and Ed described glint as the sparkle you get in your eye when you're on your way to having a good night out. ;)

Anyway - Glint is the name of Tom and Ed's club night. The last couple of Glint nights have been held at Turnmills, but I think the first Glint was held at some dinner club/Portugese restaurant in the basement - maybe sneakerbeater can either confirm this, or confirm that I am completely wrong! hehe.

Bought this CD on eBay a week or so ago, but it hasn't come yet. That and Krafty Kuts' Instant Party: Just Add People. Can't wait.

Hmm, now that I sit here and think about it, all the recent Chemical productions have been 4/4 affairs - Kylie remix, EBW7, TGP.

I wonder if this is a sign of the feel of the new album?

Makes sense I guess, they either had to go that way, or down the nu-skool breaks route and join Hybrid and the like. That's just the way the music scene has gone in recent years.

I was thinking about the 4/4 thing too. On the new album, I wouldn't put it past them to come up with a whole new way of presenting electronica music for people to hear. An evolution, as such. One things for sure: it'll be great to just listen to or great to dance to like all their other stuff :)

I was having a chat with a mate of mine about ebw7 and how minimalist it is. It's like they've got the main elements of a track and left it at that. There's no extra baggage, no extra bits and pieces throughout the track, it's just cut back to the basics. At first I thought that that was cause it was played live, but after hearing it on Pete Tong's set with him refering to it as ebw7 (so therefore a kind of release), this could be another path they're going down. DYOH was fairly minimalist... maybe they're exploring simpler music again?

That's true. Those track were ebw1 and 2, weren't they?

This talk of all 4/4 stuff is a bit scary... I hope they have some breaky stuff on the new album hey! That's what got me into the chems - their beats! I spose get yourself high is kinda breaky....

What exactly does '4/4' mean? I've never read a good definition of it. Is it just this idea of a song made up of '4 beat phrases'? I've heard this term used a lot but never fully understood it. :-?

You could describe the Slow remix, GYH, Nude Night and maybe even SFS remix as quite minimalist, there's these nice synth noises and cool beats, but nothing overly complicated or elaborate. The cool thing is that the music is as catchy as ever. :D

So does something with breaks mean music with breakbeats or lots of drums?
