nope didn't see it. Didn't see a lot of things except the show. I was really really loaded. But it sounds good... Tom and Ed seemed to have enjoyed the first show in Paris a lot. Maybe they're up for a DVD ? Who knows... It would be fucking great !

EDIT : and no news about Chrisman :( I hope he's doing ok

EDIT bis : and I was not on the front (I couldn't hear a thing on the first show) I was in the middle, a bit behind, the sound was fucking good !

Unfortunately, I don't think it will be a DVD in so far there wasn't video camera on stage. At least we could have a few songs broadcast on MTV.

Well...big review for Whirly (and others members) i read that you love big reviews !

Amazing live...the best live i saw from the brothers (except the dj set in 2003 wich was unbelievable...). I went with a friend by train and we were a bit tired but ready-as always- to be kicked by sounds of the "brothers". James Holroyd played pretty good tunes, espsecially one who quite look like surface to air. The crowd during the warming up was quite good and some of his tunes were really great. He even gave us "da funk" from daft punk...Well, we're in France, it's normal !

I hate see the chems during winter...Why ? Because i dance like nobody can dancing on the chems (trust me, i'm the king for dance on their music !!!) and when i go out, i become sick or i'm really cold with all my shirts invade by my bodywater ! It's really boring. Two times ago, while there was "come inside-side-side-side" i was totally tired because it was winter and i had all kind of clothes to support the winter. When i started dancing it was really hard. So this time, with my friend we found a great solution (i'm too ridiculous in english to explain you that correctly) and we could enjoy all the setlist.

Galvanize: new version with acid sound, aie aie aie aie ! I loved it ! especially the start. Before the beats you could hear "don't hold back" with weird synths sounds. absolutely good : And at the end there was those acid sounds ! i loved it ! Ed became crazy at the start of this song, he jump in the air out of the gear stage and ask response to the crowd ! I said to myself : "oh that's good they seems to be good !!"

Burst generator: Alalala...what can i add ? i already said of this tune is awesome. What i love is how in each crow people clap their hand at the start of this song. It has such massive response. And the "tatatatatatatata" who build up the explosure...My ears cum each time i hear that ! Burst generator ? Well it's my ear's personnaly blowjob !

Do it again : one of my favorite song in live ! I really enjoy the visuals (i saw so many times the videos on youtube !) and the progressive build up. The kind of bell at the star is so great ! (dududud! DU! dududund! DU) aie aie aie aie ! And what did they had ? The funky bass of "The big jump" during a break ! I scremed "yeahhhhhh!" and then do it again restart ! Definitely great, and i bounced my ass better than Ed ! Believe me !

Getyourself high/Hey boy hey girl : Good, good ! Madness mix. You can feel that it will "destroy" teh crowd or the zenith. such power ! All people gone mad when they only heard this "wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" which everybody recognize ! Ha ha ha ha ! a classic and very good track ! If i remember it's when i saw Ben_j, he was near me, at my left and i didn't see him before...pure hasard. What i like in this mix is how it's dark. The voice, the clown, the sound wich is negatively equalize on the mixtable, it's so "dark", demential, evil...

All rights reserved : Personnaly i think the trach is a bit too longer and not build as it should be. But i like it. When they play with the voice it's absolutely great ! I was laughing, i said " oh fuck ! this voices mix is wonderful ! continue !" But they stop it and...put a phrase wich Whirly probably like: "Did i Pass the acid test ?" Yeah, Richard ascroft voice with all reserved. It sounded so nice !

Don't fight control : magic ! mother fucker tribal beat mix with the "it doesn't matter" ! When Tom play with analogic effects it's so good ! all this "rinnnnnn !! whiwiwiwuop!rinnnnn! rinnnnnnnn" aie aie aie aie aie ! In my top 3 with this new tour ! The most psychedelic version that they could do !

Star Guitar: also a classic and really nice to get a pause...Not my favorite track, but in live it is powerful and really good to take the hand of somebody that you don't know...

Surface to air : a peace moment, a kind of contemplation for everyone. It was like an audience who was ready to receive the bread of god ha ha ha ha ! no much noise, only this robot voice, those synths and this progressive build up. Nice track, good emotion

Under the influence : Hi ha ! let's restart the crazy dance ! I prefer the version with "it doesn't matter" but this one is enough good for me ! I jumped, jumped, and jumped ! With my friend we became crazy, people was probably asking them "are they on acid ?"

Saturate : I was a bit tired and don't relly enjoy as we should enjoy the drums of this tune ! But it was good visuals and the transition with believe is nice ! Good tune and the drums are -once again- absolutely demential

Believe : Number one of the live for me. I don't have words to describe how i feel so strong and so powerful and how i become mad when there is this AWESOME MOTHER FUCKING build up with this big massive monster sound and this "bipii ! bipii! bipiii!" it's so dark, so unique...i repeat, the progressive massive build up give me madness behaviour. I took my head in my hands and i said to my self "control yourself ! control yourself !" It's so HUGE and so great. How can this sound (a kind of bear's roaring sampled and modified ha ha ha ha !)is able to give a such reaction ! I've waves & waves of excitation from the head to the foots and my arms, my head are not mind even more ! If there is a god, thanks for him to give us a body to receive and develop such emotions !

We are the night ! Goooooood one ! A bit slower than usual but it was good ! I love the psychedelic synth. It's kinda like a horse running on a Juno or Roland synth and provoc all this running sound (you know, after the start song, there is this psychedelic synth)! I love this tune. One of my fav from the chems ! But i'm sure it could be even better in live !

Nude night : what a surprise ! not a massive reaction (except from me ! i'm the king i told you !) because nobody really know it. The bass is massive ha ha ha ha ! I'm not a big fan but it worked very well on me ! Nice surprise !

Golden path : new version and i loved it ! ordinary i don't like this song, except the lyrics. I don't enjoy the instrumental. But this time, there was the flute, teh voice of the man and a different bass to introduce the tune. More "house" tune than usual. It was really pretty and i enjoyed it very well ! Also a nice surprise !

Chemical Beats : Classic ! acid ! massive ! how can you resist ? I probably already said how this tune is violent but good violence. I always considerer it, as a challenge like : "well listen to me : my acid sounds and my massive breakbeat. No try to dance on me during all my time, screaming "huh !" " I took the challenge and kick his ass ! This tune blowed me away ! I was touching my friend like he was an electronic machine ha ha ha !

Elektrobank breakbeat/analogic sounds. pause/analogic sounds (i love it during their live)

Leave Home : the guitar and the bass are so nice ! good reaction of the crowd (it's a classic)

but not huge as...

Block rockin beats ! ahhhhhh ! a pleasure to have it in live ! definetly unique ! People gone mad ans the "bibipp !" is so beautiful in live ! alalalala ! i loved it !

Das Spiegel ! a peace sound ! Tom playing the engine and the good beat ! A kind of ballad in a particular world ! (it reminds me legend of zelda...o_O ?) with this baby sound and this melody ! i was flying myself !

Sunshine underground : No 1. My favorite chems tune. I considerer it as the best eletronic track far better Jeff Mills or Daft Punk classics. emotionnal, dance, everything is in this song. I saw ben_j crying...i ask my self "how is it the cigarette with provoc it or.." Well i understood that something was wrong but i let it go..no i know what is it..sorry for you. It's true that the start of this song is quite emotional, dramatic. It put you in an other side, far from the place that you listen it. I enjoyed the build up, the middle, the end;, i had a BIG smile and was shaking my self as never can do !!! Even you Ed ! Great tune, one of the best that i've ever heard in my short live !

So great night show with a lot of improvisation synth live and good mixes ! Good crowd but less better than last july i thought...maybe i go wrong. Thanks to the chemical brothers for do so good evening !

ps: bringback it began in afrika !

Well, what can I say, it was the first chemical gig of my life and obviously the best one. I really enjoyed the crowd, not too crazy but just enough to spend a great moment of music. And Tom & Ed playing with the crowd (especially at the end), sooo nice :D

I'm not gonna review the gig song by song but the ones i loved (there are many :P) were Galvanize (the first one, great opening, the crowd was already hot thanks to James Holroyd but this one got us hotter :P), Believe (so powerful, magical visuals), Nude Night (i didn't know much of this song but it was worth discovering it live, very good beats, rythm and of course visuals), Star Guitar (i don't really like the CD version but live it's awesome), Surface To The Air (the best visuals for such a slow song, was like a dream) Das Spiegel (looove this one) and of course The Sunshine Underground with an awesome intro before the hard beats and incredible visuals !

That was one hell of a night and i hope to see them again... and again... and again (do it again !)

By the way, i think i saw you BenJ, i heard somebody call you "Benji" at the end of the gig so maybe it was you. And i totally saw the "This concert is filmed" paper on the doors of the entrance.

ok.. $5 says they added Nude Night as a live track to remind the person who said it was missing bass to shut their square pie hole. what a massive track, that was the last song i'd ever imagine they'd finally whip out since it's been out for years (same can be said about morning lemon. and the segue into golden path is fuckin amazing, wayne yelling down on an audience "how and why did i die" is great, especially since first i thought it was another random vocal hook ("this is the lifestyle we're living" or "the light swirls...a surprising number...")

we are the nude night!

The light swirls... a surprising number" ? Never heard that. When do they use it ?

I fuckin love the way The Golden Path comes in. I remember I shouted "I FOUND MYSELF IN SOME KIND OF HELL" :D

I think there were 10 rows of people in front of me and i was quite in the middle of a row. I was the guy with a blue backpack and the right arm in the air, holding a cellphone. Hope i didn't bother much people behind me because of that :P

Oh Owa, that was a wonderful, colorful (and very sexy) review! Nice of you to give James Holroyd props for being a great opener, and he played some Daft Punk for you Parisians - so cool! It must've been hard to keep up with all that dancing being so sweaty and on the verge of being sick with a cold. But you did it, like Bosco said you sound like a dancing fool and from how you describe you can give Ed a run for the money in the bootie-shakin' department. ;) Especially loved what you had to say about Burst Generator (I giggled, hehe) and The Sunshine Underground. Thanks for putting so much time into your review. I hope you feel better soon!

And hullabaloo, so glad you had such a great time at the show. Thanks a ton for the links, too. :)

Oh and just to confirm Owa's statement : Chems gigs in winter are so unconvenient, for the reasons he exposed (eg having to wear several layers of warm clothes prevents uninhibited dancing). My friend and I just left our coats in the car and walked to the venue with only a t-shirt and a sweater on. We arrived after the venue's gates had opened, so we didn't have to wait in the cold (it was like 4°C/40°F outside). Then we headed straight to the bar and had beer to warm up. :P

I totally agree with Owa and innerwatch. Because of the cold, i had to take a coat and a sweater, so i took a backpack to put them inside during the concert and it hampered me when i was jumping/dancing... Next time will be in summer :P
