so this thread is for all the music that you think is amazing, but has never been critically or commercially successfull. state your chocie, and why its underated.
and dont start putting shit like daft punk or fuckin the audio bullys in here, because thats just bobbins :P
so, ill start with:
psychonaughts - a song for creatures. a proper mix of downtempo, eclectic and acidy grooves. the songwriting is top notch, the production and engineering is amazing and the vibe/style of the band is exciting, woozy psychedelia.
nice.

What I like about it is that this is U2 at it's most experimental thanks to Brian Eno, who's fingerprints with ambient and atmospheric textures are all over the album. There is nothing that isn't daring about these tracks (Pavarotti - who would've thought) as they are so unconventional for such a conventional rock n'roll enterprise like U2.

One album that always comes to mind is U2 "Passengers vol. 1". This album sort of bombed and it was heavily criticized in the U2 fan community as being too far removed from U2's rock n'roll roots. The album was even criticized by U2's drummer Larry Mullen Jr. (hence no vol. 2). I personally think that people just didn't know what to make of it - even the most risky of U2 albums that caused a great divide between generations of U2 fans were no match to the places Passengers took the listener.

It's not a real U2 album, it's a compilation of songs written by U2 and Brian Eno, plus the occasional collaborator(s). All these songs were especially written for either documentaries, movies or 'anti-war, help the poor' concerts.

I know, man. You're talking to someone who's followed U2 quite closely since 1984. It is not a "real" U2 album in the traditional sense, but it is still a U2 project involving all 4 members of the band. The other guests on board are the passengers aboard a soundtrack for mostly imaginary documentaries and film.

The album "Sambanova" by Pnau. Absolute class and generally unheard of outside of Australia.
a ha, now this is the sort of shit i mean - nice and underground never-heard-of-them type stuff.
what sort of tuneage is it squire?
Tech-disco-house-acid! :-D
Their second album "Again" is also worth checking out imo.
