I just got Cubase VST32 5.0, is it any good?
The problem is that it's an illegitimate copy, and the crack wont work, so I just deleted the bastard. I haven't got time for timewasters
I prefer Cubase VST over Fruityloops ... I find it more flexible (then again, I was last using Fruityloops version 3.something). Fruityloops seemed like a nice program, but it was too easy to fall into a certain way of making music.
Even if you had got Cubase working it would have wasted your time for some period. I wouldn't call it very easily approachable.

Ya, I messed with Fruity Loops. It's ok but I do agree that you end up making a certain type of music, same goes for Reason. Hey, speaking of Reason, did you guys know that Liam Howlett of Prodigy said that Reason has been his primary program in producing the next Prodigy album. Kind of suprising, I felt that the audio out of Reason sounds like it has gone through a meat grinder. X-D

Reasons cool if you rewire it to a host sequencer like cubase sx - the audio engine in cubase makes reason sounds 10 times better, and you can use a much better sequencer to actually write your tunes.
i really like using reason like this, the drum machine is ace and so is the nnxt - some of the strings and rhodes sounds are wicked.
acids ok, but not flexible enough - the audio handling/timestreching in cubase is just as good as in acid, if not better i reckon.

Mippio, maybe you can help me with something. I have hooked reason up to cubase rewireing it through the host. Are you taking your whole mixer into cubase, or are you just bypassing the mixer completly and sending each instrument individually to Cubase. The reason I ask is because I can't seem to combine stereo instruments in Reason to be stereo in Cubase. When I patch them to the host, the L and R outputs of an instrument show up as 2 mono tracks in Cubase. I guess I am just really asking how do you combine two mono tracks to be stereo in Cubase SX?

hey man,
i usually bypass the reason mixer because it sounds shat and wire directly into the hardware interface at the top.
i know what you mean about each individual output from the audio interface going into an individual mixer channel in cubase. tbh i think its set that way becuase if you were setting up a hardware synth or whatever each output (L & R) would go into an individual mixer track and be panned hard left or hard right.
one way to get arouind this in reason is to just take the L (mono) output from whatever your using (synmth, redrum etc) and wire this into the audio interface - sound will still come out of both speakers making it 'stereo' but it will not be true stereo, as by definition for it to be 'true' stereo you must be able to indpendently control both the left channel and the rtight channel :)
what i tend to do is wire them in as normal so they have 2 channels in cubase sx, then highlight the relevant mixer channels in cubase sx together (using shift key), right click and slect 'link channel' - any adjustments made on either channel will then be reflected in the linked channel, which is cool. however, Insert effects have to be done individuallym, which is a bit of a pain in the ass, but you can always copy the channel settings across and then re-link them.
Hope this helps!!! :)
