With dismay, I read that only Sydney and Melbourne will get the chance to see the Chems live (so far).

Please consider transporting the gear 'up the road' from Sydney and blowing Brisbane away!!!

Queensland is the fastest growing state in Australia (so our state government says...) because most of the southerners are moving up here to share the QLD lifestyle. Sun, Surf... stuff. :-)

Seriously - please pay us a visit!

Just wait for the Future Music Festival announcement, and envy those of us who got to see them at Festival Hall before it was knocked down :)

Hello segwist & jared (not that I expect you two to ever read this post :) but I had to reply.

I was one of the guys at the 2002 March Chemical Brothers concert at Festival Hall Brisbane (RIP). It is my favourate show of all time, during the Come With Us period. Remember how loud it was and how it was on a Monday night!!!!!!!! It was the only time I heard It Began in Afrika live. Star Guitar was outstanding the first time I saw it. Brillant.

Anyway, I am praying and hoping (and I would consider going down south) that the Chemical Brothers come to Brisbane for Future Music. To see Do It Again - Get Yourself High (the clown!) to Hey Boy Hey Girl morph into one mix will be awesome. It seems unofficial that this is going to happen, but fingers crossed this is announced soon and we can get tickets before the Xmas bills arrive and Big Day Out ticket. Please come to Brisbane, please, please please (enough groveling).

Oh and here is my list of Chemical Brothers gigs - just want to see this in print:

2000 Big Day Out Gold Coast

2002 Festival Hall Brisbane

2005 Big Day Out Gold Coast

2005 Big Day Out Sydney

2005 Hodern Pavilion Sydney

So to quote the brilliant men - Chemical Brothers in Brisbane 2008 - Here we gooooooooo!

Nice one Mike. Was the Festival Hall gig in 2002 was it? I seem to have a blurred recollection that it was a sideshow gig to the BDO 2000. 2002 would make more sense though.

2000 - I bailed on my rock friends who wanted to see Chill Peppers to hit the Boiler Room before my face melted. Got a nice spot near the front, was wedged between some random beautiful girls (after-party story for another time) and had my felt melted off by Awesomeness. I remember those screens dropping for Hey Boy Hey Girl and just thinking, this is going to be rather special.

2002 - We were seated in the left stands. It was loud and this was before i had bought moulded earplugs for playing music out live, so im sure i damaged a few frequencies :P I recall i was still at university and we pretty much spent our last dollars getting in to the show.

2005 - I was managing Statler & Waldorf at the time, who opened the Boiler Room that year. I was babysitting their very basic stage mix on the Midas side of stage and just grinning at the subs under my feet, thinking how It Doesnt Matter must feel. After their set we played around on the CB's big stage plot and chatted to their engineers who were a nice bunch, before eventually getting kicked off. CB's have as you can imagine a clear stage policy. Typically at these events you hang side of stage and watch the awesomness (which is a guide for who is REALLY hot, check out which bands have the most other bands watching them side of stage) but not when you headline with 8 billion photons and lasers :P It started to rain and we stood just inside the secure area at the front on plastic chairs, getting rained on. We couldnt have squeezed into the crowd if we had of tried. So good. First time i heard EBW7. The way the accent/tie on that acid riff drops on the backbeat before the drop just blew my brain. I remember being a LITTLE disappointed how SIMILAR it felt to the other times, and how some things were just a checklist of greatest hits (eg, lets drop some Block Rockin Beats, ok move on) rather then a more concise mix, but i dont really expect them to be Underworld i suppose. Really loving the feel of the show now... from the YouTube ive caught it seems they have a bit more energy and variation.

End recollection rant :P

Mike did they play Sunshine Underground in 2000 or was it a product of my hallucination???

segwist, thanks for answer, brilliant of you to do so.

I know Sunshine was played at the Festival Hall gig, but I am pretty sure it was done at the 2000 BDO. Good you got on stage. Tom and Ed seem to be fairly together guys. I wonder if Ed's kids, they are very young I know, go to the shows! Yeah I was at uni in 2002 and remember I started back there the day of the show. I had a taxi driver the other week that got backstage at Festival Hall and saw them in some eating place. Very quiet guys he said.

As for 2005, the Gold Coast Boiler Room show was brilliant. The obvious bit of course is the Hey Boy Hey Girl, but I was stunned when they came back on stage to do Got Glint. Awesome. The Freddy Kruger clown was great during EB7. I believe they play that now?

However, I had to go to Sydney for work for a few weeks and got a cold. The Big Day Out in Sydney had them playing so far away it was not good, and some rock n roll idiots were yelling out "where are the guitars and drums". And my flu came on but I dragged my sorry arse from North Ryde to the Hordern Gig and enjoyed it, just didn't jump up and down after Get Yourself High and Galvinise.

But the set at the H was different - Setting Sun was scrapped unlike the night before replaced with The Big Jump and Believe.

Do you have the Triple J Sydney BDO 2000 and T On The Park 2005 sets (and some show in England pre 2000)? I have them on CD only, pretty good mix, they can be converted to MP3 (BTW they were broadcast on radio) I don't put them up on torrents, bit of a square here.

Let me know:

mpn_65@hotmail.com

But, I can't email them as the files are 60mb at least.

So fingers crossed CB to confirm Brisbane show soon :)
