Sometimes I really hate my job. Shitty pay, redundant work, dealing with fuckwits (welcome to retail) and you know it ain't like what it used to be back in da day with all the corporate bullshit. But sometimes I really love my job. Once in a while something will happen and it will totally make my day.
Today an occasional customer who I always help comes into the store. I see him kind of browsing around the aisles looking at music, but I pretty much had my head down doing my work. Along with a couple of new releases playing on the stereo at random, we also had Push The Button playing.
So on the speakers comes Come Inside. The customer comes up to me and says, "Hey, what was that just playing? I have to have that song!"
Of course I was only too happy to tell him about the Brothers. I told him he could listen to the record before he bought it, just to give it a test run, and he said, "No that's OK, because if there's a song on a record that's that good, then the whole thing must be good!"
Really made my day a little brighter! :) I love it when that happens.
And the thing is, that's not the first time that's happened when Come Inside was playing in the store... it's like a scene out of High Fidelity when John Cusack's character says "OK now watch me sell 5 copies of the Beta Band..." X-D

I was at work (at the local convenience store) last night when these two scutters came in,
in the village i live in there has been the introduction of "permenant travellers" despite much protesting and petitions and public meetings and media attention theyve decided to let the stinking fuks stay... Anyway these two guys came in. they looked and spoke like gypos and if they werent they looked like skag heads (heroin addicts) or both. They were loitering around by the coffee and they kept on looking up at me to see if i was looking, it was clear that they were trying to theive something (probably to sell for smack). A queue was building up so i called for assistance. then the two guys came over to the till where my colleague was working. while one of them took out his fone and started talking loudly to create a distraction the other 1 took out some scissors and cut the cord on one of the charity boxes to try and steal it. Luckily a CUSTOMER saw him and gave him an ear full about it being way below the belt and they left the shop once everyone was looking and they knew they'd been found out. thankfully the boss got their number plate and they were on camera in the store. hopefully they will be caught
What made the whole thing even worse was that the box they were trying to steal was the memorial fund of a good friend of mine and ex colleague that died out in America on his year out while cliff jumping in Utah on sept 11th 2004
There are some sick fucks in this world,

Stealing a charity box, no matter who does it that's totally fucked up - good call on the customer's part for pointing the guy out and making a scene.... I'm sorry to hear about the terrible loss of your friend. No doubt when shit happens like what occured at the store - when your friend's memorial fund was in the process of being stolen - it just opens up the wounds...
