damn, I know whirly won't let me watch it... I've overtaxed her patience with disturbing asian cinema.... I think "Calamari Wrestler' was the last straw.

Oh come on!! X-D

Of course I'll watch it with you. And cut me a break on the Calamari Wrestler, it had been a long nite and we didn't get to watching it til 2 in the morning.

Old Boy was good, I was just a little bit disturbed by how things turned out, hahaha.

nah, the next disturbing-asian-claw-at-your-eyes-and-scream-what-the-fuck film I want to watch is Audition.

Audition is pretty good it's a slow burner as i think most of these films are i guess and as for the calamari wrestler i've seen clips and i nearly wet myself laughing, i think it was the way in which they edited it but it was hilarious the way the gist of the story was revealed but i think i'll leave it at that. I was so wrecked when I watched Calamari Wrestler all I can recall is laughing so hard that I was holding onto the couch to keep from falling off.

Gonna watch a pirate screener of V for Vendetta tonight, I think... great flick.

Since our son is a little sci-fi freak, we introduced him to Terminator 2 the other night (covered his eyes during the more gorey scenes). He thought it was cool! He hasn't caught on to saying Hasta La Vista Baby, but I'm sure it's coming.

I still vouch for Terminator 2 as the pinnacle of the action movie genre. It is truly a flawless movie.

amazing film, but the first one for me hits it, hard. Just a fantastically made, dark gritty film.

Agreed. First one is probably a little tighter, overall, but the special effects have dated, to say the least. The visual aspects of T2 are better than most movies released today, IMHO.

I watched 'Sky High' with the boy last night. It was pretty fricken good, about a high school for the children of super heroes. It was almost like a homage to John Hughes in the way it was shot, and the 80s sound track. Pretty funny. Probably would have been better after a half dozen bong hits, but, you know.

The hotel room scene with the t-101 is my favourite scene out of the whole film. I realise his face looks completely fake, but I can forgive them for that because it was a very difficult thing to create.

It's just great when he's got that scalpel to his eye and removes it, or when he pulls the pistons in his arm :D

For the time, the special effects were top notch. They just haven't aged well. But the sheer audacity of what Cameron attempted is still impressive, esp. with that scene.

I love the soundtrack on the first Terminator.

Stan Winston was, until the advent of CGI, the greatest special effects man of all time.

I think Adam Jones from Tool did a lot of work on the first Terminator soundtrack. I've heard he's done a lot of soundtrack work, not sure for which movies tho.

Check out Adam Jones on the IMDB.

You'll find the complete listing there of his work in the film industry.

I like the 1st Terminator, definitely the birth of the Ahhhnold Schwarzenegger 1-liners! The 2nd one is super enjoyable, it's perfect popcorn entertainment.

Plus the 1st Terminator had the brilliant Tech Noir scene with all the club casualties. It's horrible yet oh-so-funny at the same time. One of the best club scene in a movie ever, right up there with Blade. X-D
