My other favourite bands are: Daft Punk, Moby, Royksopp, Leftfield, Groove Armada, Kraftwerk and the Plump djs.
OK then here goes...
Daft Punk: First heard of them in 1997 when they released Around the world but didn't take much notice of them until 2001 when they released Digital love which I really liked (I think it grew on me). I was going to buy the single but I remembered the other songs they had released recently (One more time and Aerodynamic) and I liked them as well so I went and bought the album.
Moby: Heard James Bond theme, thought it was cool but didn't buy it. Heard Why does my heart feel so bad and I liked that. My cousin had bought the album (Play) and he recommended it to me so I went and bought it.
Royksopp: My friend e mailed T molbile and asked them what that cool track was they were playing on their commercial. They said it was called So Easy from the album Melody AM. I'd heard rave reviews about the album so I bought it and I think its one of the best dance album released this year.
Leftfield: Hmm Leftfield, erm I actually got into Leftfield in the summer--after they had split --when I bought Rythmn and Stealth. It is a really cool album and tracks like Double Flash and Phat Planet totally kick ass. Bought Leftism a couple of months ago and it is a breathtaking album (better than Rythmn and Stealth, well, they're both good). :D
Groove Armada: Bought Vertigo a couple of weeks ago and its a really good album but apparently the 2 albums they've done since aren't that good......
Kraftwerk: I actually got into Kraftwerk quite recently when I found my dad's Autobahn 12" in the loft. Bought the mix, cool album (love trans-europe express) and I'm gonna buy the Trans europe express album soon.
and finally:
Plump djs:This one's quite funny--my Art teacher brought his mini-system into the lesson once and he played this minidisc by an artist called the Plump djs who I'd never heard of before. Found out the album was called A plump night out so I ordered it off the net. I think they're releasing a new album soon so I'll probably buy that as well.
Antype--I really like a track by Orbital called Petrol, do you know which album I can find it on?

I have a bunch of albums I love, and aside from chems&radiohead I dont really follow artists much (N.Cook a bit..)
I think we should put up Favourite albums , artist, and favourite songs within. my top five (six) albums go like this:
(1) Surrender(chems) - this album just.... well, it welcomes me to the warm arts. fave track is dream on... it makes me sleep on, dream on and i can never remember how it goes because of this. also ,my favourite artist and first thing i'd actually heard by them (i'd heard block rockin beats on radio but that doesnt count i didnt pay much attention
(2) i've got a tie here between Dig Your Own Hole(chems) and Larks Tongues In Aspic(King Crimson) - These albums are wonderful albums and are true breakthrough albums. Also, they're just.... cool..... DYOH -TPPR, mind blowing, good way to get lost for 9 and a half minutes. LTIA-LTIA(part 2) - go listen!!! maybe you wont get it like i do though...
(3) S.C.I.E.N.C.E(incubus) - this album is rockin'. best track - calgone, 16 minutes of random-madness.
(4) OK Computer(radiohead) this album is real nice... I dont need to explain do I? best track is Karma Police....
(5) Kid A(radiohead) this album is insanely weird - I love it! I think best track must be idioteque.. or motion picture soundtrack or Kid A. ;)
my story behind the chemical brothers: I first heard surrender when my mom played it in the car one day in 1999 (I'm 13 now :) youngest one here?) and I pretty well feel in love with got glint? when it came on, which pushed under the influence out of my top spot (which did the same to music:response :p). A little while later I bought dig your own hole but I couldnt get into most of the tracks because I just listened to the first few seconds ;). A few minutes later I listened to the whole thing and it was sooo cool :). I bought the music response americanEP in december of 2000 and loved freak of the week. yeah, most of my chemical purchases happened in between then and now including my mercury mouth and 14th century sky. I saw them live for the first and only time, April 19th 2002 (chems ticket=best birthday present ever :) [birthday]). Yeah, thats about it.
I'd talk about the artists, but right now I gotta run! Seeya's!

Shit, I forgot about the Chemical Brothers bit--duh!!! :x It was in 1999 (yeah, I know, where was I for the last 6 years etc) when I heard Hey boy hey girl on Radio 1 and it grew on me like really quickly. Went and bought it. I'd heard of the chems before but never really took much notice. My friend had bought surrender and he taped it for me. Listened to it and I thought it was really really cool. I didn't buy it until last year (not sure why) but then in January 2000 I bought Block rockin' beats which was a track I had on a tape somewhere. But then I got into Moby and almost forgot about the chems until January 2001 when I saw Music:Response in HMV for 1 (yes, 1) so I bought that and then I started buying loads of chems cds until December when I had around 18 of them (now I have 24).

Prodigy-Best album is Experience and Music for the Jilted generation. The new single is not what I wanted to hear from the Prodigy, but what yah going to do eh (Babys got a Temper). First song I ever heard was Out of Space.
Orbital-Now here are two guys who are on the same greatness scale as the Chemical Brothers, but have not yet surpassed them. First song I ever heard was The Saint Theme, been obsesed since.
Boards of Canada-Newer band, very good synth build up's and sound. Great for some acid 8O. Listen to ROYGBIV, good ass song.
Moby-He was good, untill he started to sing. Has gone downhill since We are all made of Stars. First song was Body Rock (LOL, maybe the only good song)
Fatboy Slim-You can give all the credit of his carreer to the Chems. LOL, I like some of his live shit. The first song I heard from him was Going out of My Head.

Revolutionary music is not something I go to expect from the Prodigy. Their music is just for a lot of fun to me.

The Prodigy, tsk, imagine my surprise and anger when I found that they were riding high in the whole Goth rock genre of things and how they were subverting many of my fellow teenagers into thier fold. How can I explain how electronica is the best form of music when all the most famous electronica bands sell out and try and play for popularity with the very same type of fans who would have called techno music "bleepy rubbish"? The Prodigy used to be good when they valued music over image but now they suck because all they care about is betraying thier former fans in favour of thier own popularity. Theyre just like some tottering schoolgirl following behind sheepishly with the latest fashion craze, I rest my case.
However Bands who still believe that the music should speak for itself include: Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Groove Armada and FatBoy Slim.
