Tom Rowlands said : "The most important feature of the album is that it connects with us emotionally in some way. We hope for finding a new way to make you feel. We dream of new sounds and different frames. We have worked with some guest singers but mostly the album is pure Chemical Brothers."

I'm loving this track (the long version, not the edit.) Listening to this more and getting a better feel for the song as a whole. The beginning is so symphonic and dramatically victorious sounding, is it not? I like how it blends into the pace that makes up the rest of the track - like 2 worlds coming together. Cool how they made that work.

More thoughts to come.

Got my first dose of the full length track. I must admit, I can't help but think about how well a song like this would be adapted to the theme of an amusement ride. Obviously, the droning chant of "Velodrome" would not exactly fit with an amusement ride. But much like Loops of Fury or Silver Drizzle, it has that feeling like I'm zipping down a rollercoaster. Any who, I enjoy the track. Would be fun to here it pop up in a live set like some of you have mentioned!

So this should be making it's live debut tomorrow (August 2nd), correct? On my schedule it says both Women and Men Sprint Track qualification is due for a 10 AM Central Time (4 PM London time) start. Elimination and Medal round will take place shortly after. No American teams involved, so we need you Euros to keep China off the podium. I love me some yellow people, but their olympic attitude needs to be put in check.

Stefan's colorful Velodrome pic (The other one on the Chems Facebook, and back a few pages in this thread) is good too, very pro. And it is much better than the 'official' image! :) Glad to see both pictures getting some love.

Got a chance to drive this evening (I work from home now and rarely drive since I don't commute) so naturally I took the opportunity to listen to Velodrome at high volume. The dramatic intro, the build on the strings, the build of intensity, and the driving beat that keeps everything in orbit. There is so much movement to the song, it's quite perfect driving music. Now if only I had a convertible, a bigger engine and a better stereo, this song and me would be a perfect cop magnet. :P

I haven't actually heard this being used by the media yet, or indeed by the "venue". Music does get played during the gaps between the action at the Olympics (mostly Queen's "We Will Rock You" at the non-velodrome events I've been to) but I haven't heard the Chems track anywhere other than the internet and now my ipod...

*edit* Oh I did hear Galvanise at the indoor volleyball last Saturday.
I've heard Galvanize in the background of quite a few events on TV; it seems to be one of their go-to tracks. It seems strange that they wouldn't use a song the Chems made specifically for a certain Olympic venue at that venue, though.

I had a party last night and we did time trials to Velodrome on an exercise bike. It was hilarious, 6 minutes takes forever on a bike.

Shame! I'm a little fed up with Galvanize always being chosen as the chem's reference song. I would really like to hear this at that very venue which is the eponym for that track.
