Ill start...
Quarashi- "Jinx"
From what I know they are an Icelandic group and recently have broken up. There sound is a mixture of Beastive Boys and Oveerseer. Great party music and loaded with big beat jems that are just waiting to be mixed into a set. From what ive read through Wikipedia, they've had 6 total releases, one ("Jinx", the only ablum of them ive heard) that was released by an american label.
Noteable Tracks on "Jinx":
- Stick Em' Up (i think this one made it on alot of american comercials)
- Mr. Jinx
- Transparent Parents
- Xeneizes
- Fuck You Puto

Ostensible concept album about the highs and lows of heroin and coke addiction in Vancouver's downtown/docks. By a band who suffered the highs and lows of heroin and coke addiction in Vancouver's downtown/docks. Really should be made into a musical, I figure.
Opening half of the album features fantastic rockers with a slight psychedelic tinge. The latter half gets melodramatic and operatic. Hit single 'Rock Machine' mixed hard-alt-rock with electronics and strong vocals. 'Juliet' is bonechilling and made my 101 songs you need to hear list.
Band begun as Circle C in the early 90s and were signed by Geffen to be the next big thing. Released a hit underground record before letting drugs get the best of them. Got clean, renamed themselves and released this album before splitting up for good. Members were also associated with many other bands in the early-90's VanCity scene.

The Golden Palominos "Pure" is a really great album, beautiful and relaxed and sprinkled with a bit o' trip hoppy beats and thick bass... this thread inspired me to pull this off the shelf and dust it off. This was in the throw-away promo bin at Tower a number of years ago. The woman's vocals are so clear, with a pureness about them. The opening track, Little Suicides, is lovely and stand out track Anything is quite smooth and seductive and there's a couple of whispery tracks that are sexy.
Another good one I've enjoyed is Happyhead's "Give Happyhead" - it's a fun little project from the ex-Shriekback. Think acid house and Madchester. This album's loads of fun, it is what is is. Fabulous is a fuckin great tune complete with Madchester type piano riff. Nice.
There's an album by a band called One Dove. They released only one album, Morning Dove White, and it was one of my favorites on 1993. I went through 2 cassette tapes, both having melted in my tape deck in my car and I cannot find a replacement cd anywhere except online. Anyway. I haven't heard it in years and would love to give this a listen again. A lovely trivia tidbit - this was produced by Andrew Weatherall, so yeah. It's good. Think Massive Attack and maybe a little Sneakerpimps with a sprinkling of Cocteau Twins. I need to get this album again, I really do.
And that's 3 right off the top of my head.

In my opinion, this album is on par with the big beat Chems and Fatboy Slim albums of the same era (Dig Your Own Hole/Surrender and We've Come a Long Way/Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars). Worked perfectly as an album from start to finish, covers a huge amount of musical ground, funky as all hell and highly original throughout. Unfortunately I lost the CD and haven't been able to find it anywhere since. Anyone who's into the mid to late 90's Chems, Fatboy, Underworld, Prodigy etc. will love this album.
And yes, it's the same Josh Abrahams that did the production for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack :? It's a shame he went in that direction, although he did it extremely well.

Leftfield and Prodigy forgotten - damn :/
My personal selection is Fluke - Six Wheels on My Wagon. Such a great album it doesn't deserve to be consigned to the rubbish bin of history!
You got that 2 disc of 2 bit pie?
Got the single disc version, need the 2 disc for my Fluke collection.

Yeah, they might be a bit hard to get into. I dunno. Minimal tech-house, whatever floats your boat. I happen to love it, but I'm not sure everyone will.

Six Wheels on My Wagon, they might have done that because it's an "older" sound.
I would say Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer, just because it's a great album, but that's the only thing he has released and I think that it has already been forgotten.
