CDs are about 1400kbps. Can't remember the exact number.

Why use what "everyone uses"? You can do better than that. ;)
Try iTunes 4, http://www.apple.com/itunes - its for Windows XP, 2000, and Mac OS X.
It'll play and encode m4a files - but Quicktime will encode higher quality files.
btw, its also miles ahead of Winamp.

128kbps m4a sounds just as good or better than 192kbps mp3.
