Since I live on the cusp to 2 towns, there's a lot to choose from but if I want a good meal and keep it local, I choose Laguna because there's plenty to pick from that's unique and tasty. My favorite local Laguna joints - besides Taco Loco fare - are:

Thai Brothers (stash and I ate there the night we met),

Laguna Thai By The Sea (owned by one of the original Thai Brothers - it's so hard to get Thai food just right and this place never fails, ever)

Ti Amo (which is the best Italian food I've ever had, the perfect place to take a date)

The Agean (which has damn good Greek foo - sorry GLAKO! - and a great atmosphere - just don't oblige when the waiter asks you if you want more pita)

Mosun (pan-Asian food that's really good but the club upstairs is quite skanky)

I'm dying to try this new place in town called Mozambique (gotta love the peri peri), but stash is completely turned off of the place because they charge split-plate costs if you want to share appetizers.

I haven't found a local place that serves up really mind blowing sushi. We have places close by that will do in a pinch, some are pretty good - but for really awesome sushi I've yet to find anything local that blows my mind. I love sushi, so this is kind of important! :P My brother is like a sushi magnet and always finds the best places. The best I've had was before he moved back to California he was in Los Angeles on business, and he took stash and I out to this joint in Venice Beach. stash wasn't feeling adventurous, so he ordered some terriyaki, but my brother and I proceeded to wolf down $400 worth of sushi. doh!! Gotta love my brother's expense accounts!!

Another thing is Indian food. God how I love Indian food and we do eat it often at this to-go place that makes good saag paneer. Sadly their poppadums have been lacking and that to me is a crime against humanity. But there's really no local places that kick ass in the Indian food department.

Damn. I'm hungry.

We've got a fantastic Indian restaurant in downtown Winnipeg. Haven't been there for a couple of months now, but I love it there. Dinner buffet for about $17 and there's quite a spread and it's all fantastic.

There are quite a number of good sushi places, but I'm not a connaisseur on the matter, I just know that there's at least a couple I'm very fond of.

currently eating nibs i got last night from the cinema. not a great breakfast but hey...it's chewy.....can't wait for lunch though. My friend made me some tasty sticky rice that'll be good for my stomach since it hasn't been feeling good over the last few weeks.

You haven't been feeling good the last few weeks?? That's not right at all - I hope it's nothing terribly serious and hope you are better soon!

it's not like I'm feeling sick all the time. It's about once every few weeks where I just get really sick to my stomach for about an hour and I just feel sick. sometimes I throw up (scary!!!) and then I'm fine for a bout another few weeks.

I first thought It was stress induced when it started when I had just broken up with my ex-girlfriend and was still really down from that, and quit my job of two and a half years back in september/october. but now I'm doing all right in terms of stress (heck, better then ever in alot of ways). plus, my eating habits have really changed since I quit my last job. I used to be eating fast food all the time since I didn't have much time and that's all I could get at the airport. I basically had 13 hours of work at nights, then sleep for most of the day and my days off were mostly sleeping or staying up half the night. Now I'm making my lunches everyday (mostly pastas, potatoes, corn, some chicken products, breads, cheese) since I have the time and I'm trying to save money, getting to Sleep at a resonable time (10pm) and usually having a 7-8 hour sleep. If I get more sick again in the future I'm definetly going to a doctor.

and i'm still looking forward to the sticky rice for lunch today. It's YUMMY!!!

Shit dude, that sounds horrible that you go through phases where you can't eat stuff you enjoy. Definitely cutting out the junk and stress does help - but you should still see a doctor. Could be your gall bladder or something if it's not a frequent occurance...

Damn - I'm sorry, I sound like fricken Nurse Whirly. I just don't like to hear about people being in pain. Sorry!! :-//

Bet it has CHEESE in it!

Breakfast makes me nauseous. I can't eat anything until I've been awake for at least 2 or 3 hours. I go for Coffee and smokes, breakfast of journalists, truckers and tweakers everywhere.

Cup-a-Soup rules. This time Cream of Chicken.

Oh yeah, and a 16 oz. Full Throttle Energy Drink. At 1:15 AM. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have an exam in the morning. I know I should have said no to going to the movies with Cathy last night. I know I should've started studying earlier this evening. I know I'm going to be tired tomorrow. But I'm living in the moment and caffeine will help me stay there.

I love sushi, but only on rare occasions. It's a treat not to be abused. Had some really nice Bokudan and some Philadelphia rolls last night from probably my favourite sushi joint in town. Actually, we were at my favourite martini joint in town, but the food comes from the kitchen of my fave sushi joint, which is in the basement of the building.

mmmmm.... bokudan and a G Martini. Yum.

Sushi is fantastic when I do have it, but I don't feel in the mood for it very often. It's a special treat for special days.

Today I made some fish tacos, and also had some great ravioli and some pro-biotic yogurt. And those vanilla Special K bars are addictive.

Agree. Bad sushi is bad. I'm very thankful there are a fair few really good sushi joints in town.
